The Hurricanes have recalled Alex Nedeljkovic from Charlotte (AHL).

Nedeljkovic, 21, was a second round pick (No. 37 overall) in 2014 and this is his first NHL call-up. Cam Ward has started 19 games in a row, so either Nedeljkovic is up to serve as his backup or so the Hurricanes can get a look at him at the NHL level. The American born netminder has gone 5-12-0 with a 3.30 GAA and .884 SV% with Charlotte and 2-0-0 with 2.83 GAA and.921 SV% in a brief stint with the Florida Everblades (ECHL).

Couture (upper-body) will play Friday win Montreal.

Couture left Wednesday’s game after being cross-checked in the head/neck area by Senators’ forward Mike Hoffman. Couture was on the ice for the morning skate and will centre the second line with Mikkel Boedker and Kevin Labanc on his wings.

Couture left Wednesday’s game with an upper-body injury, but traveled with the team to Montreal.

Couture left Wednesday’s game after taking a cross-check to the back/neck area from Mike Hoffman. It was dirty play by the Senators’ winger and Couture left the game and did not return. Despite leaving, he is with the team in Montreal, which is a good sign that he could play on Friday.

Skinner (mid-body) will be a game-time decision on Friday.

Skinner missed Tuesday’s game in Detroit, but took part in Friday’s morning skate and will be a game-time decision for the Hurricanes’ home opener vs. the Rangers. Skinner has enjoyed a hot-start to the season, picking up six points (2G / 4A) in five games this season.

Skinner missed Monday’s practice and is questionable for Tuesday’s game in Detroit.

Skinner did not appear to be hurt in Saturday’s loss to the Flyers, but he was mixed up in a fight with Wayne Simmonds. Head coach Bill Peters said that Skinner is not concussed thinks “he’s OK.” Skinner’s availability for Tuesday’s game remains up in the air so monitor his status during the Hurricanes’ gameday skate.

Leddy (upper-body) practiced on Saturday; could return to the lineup on Sunday.

Leddy missed Friday’s game with an upper-body injury, but he got through Saturday’s practice without a hitch and appears good-to-go for Sunday’s game. He would re-claim his spot from Ryan Pulock, who is now out for at least one month with a broken foot.
