Georgiev, 22, has gone 12-11-2 with a 2.97 GAA and .908 SV% in 31 games with the Wolf Pack this season. With Ondrej Pavelec getting hurt last night, Georgiev comes up to serve as Henrik Lundqvist’s backup.

Rutta is dealing with an undisclosed injury, so he’s expected to be replaced by Connor Murphy on the blueline. Monitor Rutta’s status heading into Saturday’s game in Minnesota.

White has yet to record a point in eight games with the Senators this season but with Bobby Ryan out for at least the next two games, White will move to the top line. The 2015 first round pick had eight goals and nine assists (17 points) in 32 games in Belleville (AHL) when he was called up.

Thornton suffered the injury during overtime on Tuesday and will miss “several weeks.” Thornton recently had left knee surgery, so luckily he avoided an injury to that same knee but it sounds like he will be out until at least mid-February.

Thornton suffered an apparent knee injury in overtime on Tuesday and an MRI is expected to reveal the nature of the injury this morning. Expect an update on Thornton’s status at some point this afternoon.

Wennberg has missed the last eight games with a back injury but will be back in the lineup tonight in Buffalo. Wennberg will assume a familiar role tonight as he starts at centre with Boone Jenner and Nick Foligno on his wings. After a breakout 2016-17 season, Wennberg has struggled this season and comes into tonight with just four goals and 12 assists (16 points) in 30 games. He will look to have a better second half, starting tonight.

Wennberg has missed the last eight games with a back injury and returned to practice this afternoon after skating on his own on Saturday. Wennberg is two weeks into a 4-6 week timetable, so it looks like he could be ahead of schedule.

With Bobby Ryan (hand) not in Toronto, White will play with Matt Duchene and Mike Hoffman on the Senators second line tonight. Filip Chlapik will likely take his spot on the fourth line.

White, 20, missed the start of the season after fracturing his wrist in the preseason. Upon returning to Belleville’s lineup, White collected 13 points (5G / 8A) in 27 games. Look for the 2015 No.21 overall pick to make his season debut on Saturday.

Wennberg suffered the injury last Thursday in Pittsburgh and after being scratched from Saturday’s game vs. the Flyers, the Blue Jackets announced that he is expected to miss at least one month. Wennberg was placed on IR and Lukas Sedlak will likely move up to the third line while Wennberg is out.

The Sharks foreshadowed that Couture would likely be out until after the Christmas break so him not playing tonight should come as no surprise. With Couture out, look for Tomas Hertl to remain as the Sharks’ second line centre.
