Seattle Kraken News

The Seattle Kraken have signed Jamie Oleksiak to a five-year, $23 million contract.

Oleksiak found a comfort zone on a pairing with Miro Heiskanen in Dallas but was selected in the Expansion Draft and signed to a five-year deal with a $4.6M AAV cap-hit. Oleksiak brings a little offence, scoring nine goals with 15 assists (24 points) in 125 games over the last two seasons. However, it's the physicality that the 6-foot-6, 255 lbs. blueliner brings that Kraken fans will love--Oleksiak ranks sixth among defensemen in hits (301) over the last two seasons.

The Maple Leafs have acquired Jared McCann from the Penguins for Filip Hallander and a '23 7th round pick.

The Penguins were likely going to lose McCann for nothing in the Expansion Draft, so this trade brings Filip Hallander back to the organization after losing him in the Kasperi Kapanen trade. For the Maple Leafs, they will expose McCann and will likely lose him or Alexander Kerfoot. Either way, they are left with a third-line centre in the organization.

Dunn (upper-body/illness) will not play in Game 1 vs. the Avalanche.

Dunn missed the final 11 games of the regular season with an upper-body injury. Dunn missed Sunday's practice due to an illness and the combination of issues will be enough to keep him out of Game 1 in Colorado. With Dunn out, Marco Scandella will skate on the second pairing with Colton Parayko.

Tolvanen is expected to be a healthy scratch in Game 1.

Tolvanen had a nice season, scoring 11 goals with 11 assists in 40 games. However, according to the Predators projected lineup, they will go with a heavier lineup which would have Tolvanen sitting in Viktor Arvidsson's return. Taking Tolvanen out will surely hurt the Predators' power-play.
