Grubauer is projected to start Tuesday vs. the Avalanche.

Grubauer stopped all 18 shots that he faced replacing Braden Holtby in the Capitals loss in Brooklyn last night. The Capitals may go back to Grubauer tonight after another strong outing. In his last three appearances, Grubauer has turned away 66 of 68 shots (.971 SV%). Don’t expect the Capitals to announce a starter until they get to the rink closer to game time.

Grubauer will be between the pipes vs. the Sharks on Monday.

Grubauer allowed one goal on 26 shots in the Capitals’ win over the Lightning on November 24th. Despite Braden Holtby playing very well recently, Grubauer will start tonight vs. the Sharks. He is coming off of his first win of the year and San Jose comes in ranked third last in the NHL in scoring, averaging just 2.56 goals for per game.

Montour (elbow) is expected to be back in the Ducks lineup on Friday.

After a one-game absence with a hyperextended elbow, Montour is expected to replace the traded Sami Vatanen in the lineup on Friday. Vatanen’s exit makes Montour a more appealing fantasy asset and he comes into tonight with 13 points (6G / 7A) in 24 games this season.

The Oilers have placed Adam Larsson (upper-body) on IR.

The hits keep coming of the struggling Oilers, who lost their No.1 goaltender earlier in the week and now lose a top-pairing D-man. It’s unclear when Larsson sustained the injury, but for the time being they will re-insert Eric Gryba into the lineup and not recall anyone from the AHL.

Adam Larsson
Grubauer will start Thursday in Colorado.

Grubauer stopped all six shots that he faced in relief of Braden Holtby on Tuesday. He will get a rare opportunity to start with a fresh team in front of him and that should help his search for his first win of the season. He has been one of the best spot-start options in the NHL over the years, but has struggled mightily this year—a meeting with the Avalanche could be the remedy he needs.

McCann (lower-body) is doubtful to play Friday in Buffalo.

McCann returned to the lineup on Saturday after a five-game absence but missed Tuesday’s game in Carolina and is expected to miss a second straight game as he continues to deal with a lower-body injury. Dryden Hunt has been recalled from Springfield (AHL) and is expected to take his spot in the lineup.

Grubauer will start Tuesday in Buffalo.

Grubauer allowed two goals on 38 shots in the Capitals’ loss in Calgary on October 29th. Grubauer hast a 4.08 GAA and .876 SV% in four starts and one relief appearance so far this season—he is still searching for his first win of the season. He’ll have a good opportunity to do so tonight, against the 4-8-2 Sabres who come in very banged up
