Murray (personal) makes his return to the Penguins crease on Tuesday.

Murray stopped all six shots he faced in relief to earn an overtime win vs. the Bruins on January 7th. He has been either sidelined with a personal matter or serving as Casey DeSmith’s backup ever since, but will return to the cage tonight vs. the Sharks. It has been a difficult month for Murray, but he will try and return to hockey tonight on home ice, where he is 9-4-1 with a 2.65 GAA and .918 SV% this season.

Schwartz (ankle) won’t play Tuesday but is a possibility to play on Thursday.

Schwartz, who has been sidelined since December 9th, has been medically cleared to return and it looks like he’ll be back on Thursday. The Blues have gone 8-10-1 while averaging just 2.16 goals per game since Schwartz was sidelined.

Murray (personal) has left the team to return to Ontario following the passing of his father.

Murray missed two games to attend to a family matter before joining his team on their Californian road-trip. It seemed like Murray was on-pace to start Wednesday’s game but his dad passed away so Murray will return home for an indefinite period of time.

Grubauer will start Friday in Carolina.

Grubauer allowed one goal on 38 shots in the Capitals win over the Canucks on Tuesday. With Braden Holtby starting last night, Grubauer will start the tail-end of the home-and-home with the Hurricanes. Dating back to the start of December, Grubauer has gone 2-0-2 with a 1.05 GAA, .965 SV% and one shutout in his last five games.

Gruabuer will start Tuesday vs. the Canucks.

Grubauer stopped all 37 shots that he faced in the Capitals shutout win in New York on December 27th. It seems like an odd time to get Grubauer a start with a back-to-back later this week, but the 26-year-old has allowed just five goals on 132 shots (.962 SV%) in his last five appearances. He makes for an interesting spot-start, especially in a week where a lot of goalies are on a bye week.

The Blackhawks have reassigned John Hayden to Rockford (AHL).

Hayden played just 6:07 TOI on Friday and was a healthy scratch on Saturday, so he will get a chance to continue to work on his game in the AHL. Tomas Jurco has been recalled to take his spot on the roster.
