Oleksiak missed Thursday’s game with a hand injury that he suffered on Tuesday and will miss at least three weeks and could be out until late-February/mid-March.


Montour averaged 15:08 TOI/GM in five games since being recalled from San Diego. Montour failed to record a point and will swap places with Shea Theodore and goes back to the Gulls, where he has 21 points (7G / 14A) in 25 games this season.

Oleksiak left Tuesday’s game after playing just 6:32 TOI and did not return. Oleksiak could be out for a little bit, so expect Stephen Johns to draw back into the lineup on Thursday.

McCann has split his season between the NHL and AHL. McCann had three points (1G / 2A) in 17 games with the Panthers before being sent down, where he collected four goals and two assists (six points) in 15 games with the Thunderbirds. He has been recalled because SethGriffith is out with a concussion and is expected to play on Friday.


Schwartz missed Sunday's practice with an illness, but is expected to play in the Winter Classic vs. the Blackhawks. Schwartz is expected to skate on a line with Jori Lehtera and Vladimir Tarasenko and comes in with 12 goals and nine assists (21 points) in 33 games.


Murray left Wednesday's game with an upper-body injury and head coach Mike Sullivan said that Murray is week-to-week. With Murray out, Marc-Andre Fleury will take over as the Penguins' starter and for Tristan Jarry to be recalled from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL) to serve as the backup.

Murray allowed two goals on 27 shots before leaving the crease and being replaced by Marc-Andre Fleury, who ended up recording the win. The Penguins did not have an update on Murray postgame, but expect them to provide and update in the next day or two.

Montour, 22, was a second round pick in 2014 (55th overall) and could make his NHL debut during the Ducks’ two-game road trip. He has been called up because Sami Vatanen is sick and will not be available on Thursday or Friday. Montour has seven goals and 14 assists (21 points) in 25 games with San Diego this season.

Murray allowed six goals on 23 shots in the Penguins’ loss in Columbus on Thursday. It was Murray’s worst outing of the season and it came against the hottest team in the league. Tonight he faces the Hurricanes on home-ice, where he is 7-0-1 with a 1.83 GAA and .943 SV% this season. Murray is a must-start in all formats.

The 22-year-old has gone 6-0-1 with a 1.63 GAA and .947 SV% in December, but draws a stiff test tonight vs. the Blue Jackets. Columbus comes into play on a 10-game winning streak and possess the NHL’s top power play.

The 22-year-old stopped 16 of 17 shots in a 6-1 win in his first start vs. New York this season.

Grubauer stopped 27 of 28 shots in the Capitals’ win in Buffalo last Friday. Grubauer continues to start on back-to-backs and will go tonight in Carolina. Grubauer has gone 4-1-1 with a 1.67 GAA and .940 SV% in his six starts this season. His regulation loss came against these Hurricanes—he allowed four goals on 37 shots in a 5-1 loss in mid-November.
