St Louis Blues News

Binnington will start against the Penguins on Tuesday.

Binnington will be back between the pipes for the tail-end of the Blues' back-to-back tonight after serving as Joel Hofer's backup on Monday. Binnington was unfortunate to be tagged with the loss in his last start, allowing just three goals on 34 shots in a 3-2 loss to the Blues on Thursday. The 32-year-old netminder is enjoying a strong finish to what has otherwise been a forgetful season, posting a .920 SV% across his last four appearances. Binnington and the Blues enter action on Tuesday at -190 on the money line.

Lindstein has been reassigned to Springfield (AHL).

After a 17-game debut in the NHL, Theo Lindstein has been returned to Springfield as St. Louis season comes near to a close. The 21-year-old picked up two goals and four points during his brief NHL showing but returns to Springfield (AHL) for the playoff push, where he had six goals and 14 points in 56 games played earlier in the year.

Hofer will start Monday vs. the Wild.

The Blues have received stellar goaltending down the stretch from Joel Hofer, but it was unfortunately too late as their playoff hopes came to an end last week. The 25-year-old Hofer saved 31 of 34 shots (.912 SV%) in his most recent outing, a 5-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks. Since returning from the Olympic break, Hofer has been one of the top goalies in the NHL, posting a stellar 1.90 GAA and .936 SV% in 14 games (10-2-2). The Blues enter Monday's contest as -130 home favourites against a Minnesota Wild team that has lost two straight (0-2-0) and could be inclined to rest some key players with their postseason placement already decided.

Berggren will be a healthy scratch on Monday.

With Jonathan Drouin drawing back into St. Louis' lineup after a two-game absence, Jonatan Berggren will be the odd-man out and a healthy scratch vs. Minnesota on Monday. Berggren was acquired off waivers from Detroit earlier in the season, picking up six goals and 16 points in 35 games played with St. Louis.

Drouin will draw into the Blues' lineup on Monday.

Drouin has been a healthy scratch for St. Louis' last two games but will draw back in Monday vs. Minnesota as he takes the spot of Jonatan Berggren. The 31-year-old veteran has struggled during his brief time in St. Louis after being acquired at the Trade Deadline, with just one goal, eight SOG and a -2 plus/minus in seven games played.

Jonathan Drouin
Finley will draw into the Blues' lineup on Monday.

Finley had been a healthy scratch for St. Louis' previous game but will draw back into the lineup on Monday vs. Minnesota. The 23-year-old forward was claimed off waivers from Tampa Bay earlier in the season but has gone 12 games without a point during his recent scoreless streak. He has two goals, five points and 23 SOG in 42 games with both St. Louis and Tampa Bay this season.

Despite the loss, it was another strong outing for Hofer, who is 9-2-2 while ranking second in GAA (1.82) and first in SV% (.941) since the Olympic break. He's a must-start on Saturday against a Blackhawks team that has lost seven of their last eight games and nine of their last 11.
