Toropchenko was expected to be out until December after undergoing shoulder surgery, but he declared himself 100 percent on Friday. Head coach Craig Berube said a final decision on Toropchenko's status will be made before the game on Saturday.
Broberg was sent to the AHL before the Oilers' season opener so Devin Shore could come up while both Kailer Yamamoto and Warren Foegele were hurt. With Yamamoto and Foegele back on the ice for Friday's practice, Broberg and Shore have swapped spots again.
Broberg failed to crack the opening night roster, so he'll start the season in Bakersfield (AHL) to make room for Devin Shore to be called up. Broberg had 23 points (4G / 19A) in 31 AHL games last season.

Toropchenko will miss the start of the 2022-23 season after undergoing offseason shoulder surgery. Toropchenko will "probably be out until early December." Blues GM Doug Armstrong said that "it's one of those (injuries) where he could have potentially played with it and got injured again, then you're looking at a four- to five-month surgery." Toropchenko had two goals and two assists in 40 combined regular season and playoff games during his first NHL season.
