Vasilevskiy allowed four goals on 35 shots in the Lightning’s 5-4 win over the Stars last Saturday. Tonight will be his one start of the week, that he is expected to get for the remainder of the season. He has won each of his last two starts while stopping 59 of 63 shots (.937 SV%). He has never faced the Jets and has never lost at home—3-0-0 / 2.02 GAA / .934 SV%.
Elliott stopped all 28 shots that he faced in the Blues 1-0 shootout win over the Flyers on Thursday. He comes into play on Saturday having won three in a row while posting a 1.62 GAA and .926 SV%. This will be his first start against Minnesota, but his 21st at home—Elliott has gone 12-5-1 with a 2.20 GAA and .918 SV% on home ice.
Elliott allowed four goals on 16 shots in the Blues 5-4 win over the Jets on Tuesday. It wasn’t a pretty outing for Elliott but it was enough to earn a second straight victory. Tonight he faces the Flyers and home, where Elliott has gone 11-5-1 with a 2.34 GAA and .913 SV% this season.
Elliott gave up one goal on 24 shots in the Blues 6-1 win over the Maple Leafs on Saturday. It was a beat-down for Elliott’s 21st win of the season. Tonight he takes on a banged up Jets team at home—Elliott has gone 10-5-1 with a 2.23 GAA and .919 SV% at Scottrade Center this season.
Mike Babcock moved Glendening to the Red Wings first line with Pavel Datsyuk and Tomas Tatar on Saturday. It probably is not a permanent move, but he will start Sunday’s game there. He has 12 points (8G / 4A) in 63 games.
Vasilevskiy stopped all 28 shots that he faced to earn his first career shutout on Tuesday vs. Buffalo. It was a big milestone for the 20-year-old who will continue to see starts down the stretch to keep Ben Bishop fresh. Tonight he will take on a Dallas team who may not play a lot of defence, but can score with the best of em.
Elliott allowed two goals on 30 shots in the Blues 3-1 loss to the Flyers on Thursday. He has hit a bit of a rough patch, but draws a good matchup tonight vs. the Maple Leafs. Oddly enough, Elliott has played very well on Saturday. Whether it has any bearing or not, it is worth noting that he has gone 8-2-0 with a 1.95 GAA and .926 SV% in 11 starts on Saturday this season.
Elliott allowed one goal on six shots after replacing Jake Allen in the Blues loss in Vancouver on Sunday. Elliott has been average as of late, going 6-4-0 with a 2.73 GAA and .910 SV% in his last 10 outs. Tonight he will start in Philadelphia—he has gone 10-4-1 with a 2.16 GAA and .924 SV%.
Ben Bishop was slated to start tonight but he was reportedly not right after getting nicked up by a shot in the pregame skate. Warmups was all over the place, giving no one a real idea of who was actually starting. However, it was settled prior to puck drop as Vasilevskiy took the crease.
Atkinson was believed to be a potential trade target at the deadline, but the Blue Jackets have locked the 25-year-old up for the next three years at $3.5 million per year. He has 13 goals and 12 assists (25 points) in 58 games this season.
Elliott made 30 saves on 31 shots in the Blue Jackets win in Winnipeg on Thursday. After two bad outings in a row, it was good to see Elliott get back in the win column. Tonight he starts in Edmonton, where he will go for his 20th win on the season. Elliott has gone 9-4-1 with a 2.18 GAA and .924 SV% on the road this year.
The Lightning want to make sure that Ben Bishop is mentally and physically ready for the playoffs, so they will give Vasilevskiy at least one start every week for the rest of the season. With 20 games left, he is looking at 6-10 starts the remainder of the way, making him a strong goalie add.
Hedman left Thursday’s practice early with an undisclosed injury, but he was on the ice for today’s morning skate and said that he is good to go tonight vs. the Blackhawks. Hedman has three assists in his last four games.
Girgensons is expected to miss the majority of the remainder of the regular season, so moving him to IR is simply a formality to create an empty roster spot.
Elliott allowed four goals on 29 shots in the Blues 4-2 loss to the Penguins on Saturday. He did not start on Tuesday, but after Jake Allen lost to the Habs, they will go back to Elliott tonight in Winnipeg. Elliott has gone 4-4-0 with a 3.29 GAA and .897 SV% in eight February starts and has gone 8-4-1 on the road this season.
Originally head coach Ted Nolan was worried that Girgensons would miss the remainder of the season. He will miss a lengthy period of time, but the Sabres are hopeful that he will return before the end of the season.
The Lightning want Vasilevskiy playing as much as possible, so they sent him to Syracuse to start last night. He allowed four goals on 34 shots in a loss to Rochester. He is back, but there is no word whether or not he will start on Friday.
The Lightning are off until Friday and Syracuse plays tonight, so expect Vasilevskiy to go down and play tonight before returning to Tampa Bay for Friday’s game against the Blackhawks.
Girgensons took a James Wisniewski slap-shot off of his right foot and was forced to leave the ice and did not return. It did not appear that Girgensons was able to put any weight on the foot, which is obviously not a good sign. Coach Ted Nolan is concerned that Girgensons injury could end his season, but he will await the official word from the Sabres medical staff.
