Ferland suffered the injury in Friday's OT win over the Red Wings. He will miss at least a couple of weeks with a sprained knees. Derek Grant was recalled from Stockton (AHL) and he is expected to replace Ferland on Sunday.
Kane left after a hit where his knee appeared to buckle. Kane had to be helped off of the ice and it did not look good. The Sabres did not have an update on Kane’s status after the game, but early indications suggest that he will miss some time.
Ferland, 23, had just five points (2G / 3A) in 26 games with the Flames last regular season, but played very well in the postseason racking up three goals and two assists in just nine games. His one-way deal paves the way for Ferland to make the 2015-16 opening day roster.
Ferland was held out of Game 2, but he took part in the morning skate today and said “I feel good, but it's going to be a coach's decision." Signs are pointing towards the rookie playing tonight, but he is officially listed as a game-time decision. Expect David Wolf to come out of the lineup if Ferland plays.
Ferland left Game 1 with an undisclosed injury and did not return. He was forced to leave after playing just 5:24, but the injury is not believed to be series and he should be in the lineup on Sunday.
Myers will take a seat in the final game of the regular season, which is well deserved since Myers has been playing nearly 26-plus minutes per night in April. He has three goals and 12 assists (15 points) in 24 games since being traded to Winnipeg.
Myers missed Saturday’s game with upper-body injury, but he will be back in the lineup tonight vs. San Jose. Myers has been great, posting nine point in his first 12 games with the Jets. Myers will be on the top-pair with Tobias Enstrom.
Myers missed Saturday’s game in Tampa Bay, but he will be back in the lineup tomorrow vs. San Jose. Myers has registered nine points (2G / 7A) in 12 games with the Jets.
Myers will miss at least one game because of an upper-body injury that he suffered on Thusday. Myers will be replaced by Paul Postma and is questionable for Tuesday’s game.
Myers left after playing 10:36 and did not return. Myers has been excellent since being traded to the Jets, posting nine points (2G / 7A) in 12 games. Myers should be considered questionable for Saturday’s game.
Forbort, 22, never got into an NHL game, but was able to make some NHL coin for over two weeks. The former first round pick heads back to Manchester where he has 11 points (2G / 9A) in 46 games this season.
This is Ferland’s, 22, second call-up of the season. He had one assist in 10 games with the Flames earlier in the season. The 6-foot-1, 225 lbs. forward has 15 points (7G / 8A) in 32 games with Adirondack.
Forbert, 22, was the Kings first round pick (15th overall) in 2010. The 6-foot-4, 218 lbs. blue liner has 11 points (2G / 9A) and a plus-15 rating in 46 games with Manchester this season.
Myers, 25, was the 12th overall pick in the 2008 draft. He has seemingly regressed at the same rate as his team in each of his first five and a half seasons in the NHL. He was asked to do a lot on a bad team and the move to Winnipeg should definitely help him. He is in the third year of a seven year deal and his fantasy value is now much higher than it was when he woke up this morning. This is a defenseman who had 48 points (11G / 37A) in his rookie season.
Kane, 23, is out for the season after undergoing shoulder surgery earlier in the week. He is in the third year of a six-year deal with a $5.25M cap-hit. He is a dynamic, goal-scoring winger who will be a nice piece for the Sabres as they continue their rebuild. Kane has 109 goals and 113 assists (222 points) in 361 games in his first six seasons in the NHL. He makes for a nice keeper option, because you could see him on the wing with Connor McDavid next season.
Despite all the trade rumours surrounding Kane, this shoulder surgery will likely slow the rumours down. However a team that is out of the playoff race that may be interested in him, might be wise to make a move for him now. His value will be slightly lower and hey, it will help them lose games and get Connor McDavid.
The Jets medical staff elected it is best for Kane to undergo season ending shoulder surgery. There is no word on when Kane will undergo the surgery, but the expected recovery time is 4-6 months. It looks like he has played his final game in a Jets uniform.
It has been a crazy day for Evander Kane news and this is the latest development. His IR move is retroactive to January 2nd, which means he will miss at least the next two games with whatever it is that is bothering him. Monitor his status leading up to next Tuesday’s game vs. the Wild.
