Kane missed Tuesday's game with an illness, but is expected to be back in the lineup tonight after skating with Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart in the morning skate. Kane has been on fire recently, recording nine goals and five assists (13 points) in his last 17 games.




Kane was hurt while scoring a goal in the Sabres’ win over the Sharks on Tuesday. Kane is listed as a game-time decision and the Sabres are hoping he will play because he’s been red-hot lately. The winger has scored four goals with five assists (nine points) while firing 43 shots in his last eight games.

Kane suffered three broken ribs in the Sabres’ season opener and has missed the last 11 games. Kane had 35 points (20G / 15A) in 65 games last year and tonight he is expected to skate on the top line with Ryan O’Reilly and Kyle Okposo.

Kane was brought to hospital for precautionary reasons after crashing into the end boards last night. Further evaluation revealed that Kane cracked three ribs and he will be out for “weeks” according to head coach Dan Bylsma. This is a tough blow for the Sabres, who will already be without Jack Eichel for what appears to be 6-8 weeks.

Kane slid hard into the end-boards during the Sabres’ season opener on Thursday and was taken to hospital for further evaluation and precautionary measures. It has been a tough start to the year for Sabres, who are already without Jack Eichel for at least a few weeks and both Kyle Okposo and Dmitry Kulikov are day-to-day.

Forbort, 24, was the 15th overall pick in 2010 and cracked the NHL roster in 2015-16. He spent the majority of the year with Ontario (AHL), collecting 10 points and 40 PIMS in 40 games, but he dressed in 14 contests with the Kings where he had one goal and one assist. Forbort will look to crack the Kings roster in training camp this Fall.

Kane will miss the next 3-4 weeks with an upper-body injury, so his first season with the Sabres is over. Kane has 20 goals and 15 assists (35 points) in 65 games. With Kane out, Hudson Fasching is expected to play a bigger role with the Sabres.


Kane suffered an upper-body injury in the second period of Monday’s loss in Detroit and likely won’t play tonight in Pittsburgh. If Kane isn’t able to play, look for Cal O’Reilly to get back in the Sabres lineup.

Kane was a healthy scratch on Tuesday after missing Monday’s practice but he will be back in the lineup on Friday. Kane has three goals in his last two games and he has picked up six goals on 45 shots (13.3 shooting%) in his last eight games.


Forbort had one goal and one assist in 14 games with the Kings during his call up. After the Kings acquired Luke Schenn on Wednesday, Forbort was reassigned to Ontario. He had no points in two games with the Reign earlier in the year.




Kane missed Tuesday’s practice and the Sabres have listed him as day-to-day. Kane has played just three games since returning from a knee injury and at this time there is no word whether or not he re-aggravated that injury. He is in danger of missing Wednesday’s game, but monitor his status during the morning skate.
