Wilson (illness) will not play against the Flyers on Wednesday.

Tom Wilson was an effective contributor for Team Canada during their Silver Medal performance at the Olympics, scoring four points (1G / 3A) in six games, but he has returned home with an illness that will prevent him from playing on Wednesday against the Philadelphia Flyers. The 31-year-old Wilson scored a career-high 65 points (33G / 32A) in 2024-25 and is pacing to surpass those totals in 2025-26, with 49 points (23G / 26A) through 50 games.

McMichael did not play the final few games for Washington heading into the Olympic break due to an upper-body injury, but appears ready to return after being activated from Injured Reserve on Wednesday. The 25-year-old McMichael is averaging 17:03 time-on-ice and has 31 points (8G / 23A) in 55 games this season.

The 25-year-old has taken a step backwards offensively after a breakout campaign in 2024-25, with only eight goals, 31 points and 105 SOG through 55 games played this season.

Lindgren (lower-body) retuned to practice on Tuesday.

Lindgren has been out since January 29th due to a lower-body injury but returned to Washington's practice on Wednesday and has claimed he is good to go when Washington returns vs. Philadelphia on February 25th. The 32-year-old has struggled as Logan Thompson's backup this season, posting a 8-6-3 record, 3.37 GAA and .884 SV% in 18 appearances.

Washington has signed Mitchell Gibson to a two-year, two-way contract.

Washington added to their goaltending depth on Tuesday after signing 26-year-old Mitchell Gibson to a two-year, two-way contract. The Capitals 2018 4th round pick has spent the season bouncing between the South Carolina Stingrays (ECHL) and the Hershey Bears (AHL). Gibson will have to pass through waivers before he can be loaned back to Hershey (AHL) and is expected to do so today.

Thompson is enjoying another strong year for the Washington Capitals, going 19-16-4 with a 2.45 GAA, .912 SV% and two shutouts in 39 games. Internationally, he has not played for Team Canada since the 2022 World Championships, before he was even a full-time NHLer. He should have a chance to battle Jordan Binnington for playing time throughout these Olympics.

Milano played the past two games for the Capitals, but will exit the lineup due to personal reasons on Thursday. The 29-year-old Milano has eight points (4G / 4A) in 31 games this seaosn. Pierre-Luc Dubois will return from a prolonged absence due to an abdominal injury and replace Milano.

Dubois (abdominal injury) will return vs. Nashville on Thursday.

Dubois has only played six games this season and has been sidelined since October 31st after undergoing surgery to address abdominal and adductor muscle injuries. The 27-year-old Dubois was struggling to start the season, scoring zero points. That said, he had a resurgent 2024-25 season, with 66 points (20G / 46A) in 82 games.

Stevenson will starry in Philadelphia on Tuesday.

Logan Thompson (upper body) is hopeful to return on Thursday, but with him and Charlie Lindgren (lower body) still sidelined, the Capitals will turn to Stevenson on consecutive nights. The 26-year-old Stevenson was terrific last night in his second start of the season, saving 29 of 30 shots (.967 SV%) in a 4-1 win over the New York Islanders. The Capitals enter Tuesday's contest as +121 road underdogs against a reeling Philadelphia Flyers team that has just two wins in their last 10 games (2-6-2).

Roy (lower-body) took full part in warmups and is expected to play against the Islanders on Tuesday.

Roy has not played in over a week because of a lower-body injury, but will be a game-time decision to return to Washington's lineup on Monday against the New York Islanders. The 30-year-old Roy is averaging 20:46 time-on-ice and has 14 points (1G / 13A) in 53 games this season.

Thompson returned to practice on Sunday and also participated on Monday, but has been ruled out of Washington's next two games, targeting a return on Thursday against the Nashville Predators. With Charlie Lindgren (lower body) also sidelined, Clay Stevenson has stepped in as Washington's third-string goalie.
