Thompson will start vs. Philadelphia on Tuesday.

Thompson has been outstanding for Washington in recent weeks, and his team repaid the favour, bailing him out with wins in consecutive games in which he has allowed four goals. The 29-year-old Thompson will return to the crease on Tuesday against the Philadelphia Flyers, looking to build on his 2.53 GAA and .912 SV% through 11 games in March (5-4-2). The Capitals enter Tuesday's contest as -126 home favourites against a Flyers team that defeated them 4-1 earlier this month.

Kampf will make his Washington debut vs. Philadelphia on Tuesday.

Kampf was acquired in a trade from the Vancouver Canucks at the trade deadline, but personal logistics have delayed his team debut by nearly four weeks. The 31-year-old Czech forward scored six points (2G / 4A) and averaging 15:02 time-on-ice in 38 games before being traded this season.

David Kampf
Protas (upper-body) will be out vs. Philadelphia on Tuesday and is expected to miss some time.

Protas was limited to only 6:27 time-on-ice in Washington's 5-4 win over the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday, exiting the game due to an upper-body injury. The 25-year-old forward has 47 points (23G / 24A) in 70 games this season. With only eight games remaining in Washington's regular season, it is unclear when, or if, Protas will be targeting a return.

Thompson will start in Utah on Thursday.

Thompson has had a heavy workload lately as Washington desperately battles to stay in playoff contention, and he will return to the crease on Thursday against the Utah Mammoth. The 29-year-old goalie has been outstanding lately, but he finds himself amid a two-game losing skid (0-1-1). That said, he has a stellar 2.09 GAA and .924 SV% in his last 12 games (6-4-2). The Capitals enter Thursday's contest as +122 road underdogs against a Mammoth team that is 1-2-0 in their last three games.

Frank (lower-body) is out vs. St. Louis on Tuesday and considered day-to-day.

Frank exited Washington's previous game, a 3-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche, early in the first period due to a lower-body injury. The 28-year-old, who has 24 points (12G / 12A) in 60 games, will not play on Tuesday, but is not expected to be out long-term. Ivan Miroshnichenko will draw into the lineup as Frank's replacement.

Thompson is expected to start vs. New Jersey on Friday.

The Capitals are desperately trying to stay within reach of a Wild Card spot in an ultra-tight Eastern Conference and will turn to Thompson on Friday against the New Jersey Devils. The 29-year-old Thompson was outstanding in his most recent outing, barely falling short of a shutout, saving 34 of 35 shots (.971 SV%) in a 4-1 win over the Ottawa Senators. The 29-year-old goalie has an impressive 2.12 GAA and .923 SV% in his last nine games (5-3-1). Thompson will start vs. Ottawa on Wednesday.

The Capitals are desperately trying to stay within reach of playoff contention and will turn to Thompson on Wednesday against the Ottawa Senators, a team they are trying to catch in the standings. The 29-year-old Thompson was excellent in his most recent outing, saving 32 of 34 shots (.941 SV%), but came up short in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Boston Bruins. That said, Thompson has battled some adversity lately, compounded by his team's inability to produce offensively, losing four of his last five (1-3-1) while posting a 2.61 GAA and .902 SV%. The Capitals enter Wednesday's contest as +113 home underdogs against a Senators team that is 5-1-0 in their last six games.

Hutson will make his NHL debut on Wednesday vs. Ottawa.

Hutson was a second-round pick of the Washington Capitals in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft and signed an entry-level, three-year contract with the team over the weekend after completing his collegiate career. The talented 19-year-old defenseman scored an impressive 80 points (24G / 56A) in 74 games combined over two seasons with Boston University. With the recent departure of long-time Capitals defenseman John Carlson, Hutson could find himself with immediate powerplay deployment upon his NHL debut on Wednesday against the Ottawa Senators.

Cole Hutson
Lindgren will start in Buffalo on Thursday.

Coming off a disappointing 4-1 loss last night to the Philadelphia Flyers, Washington's fourth loss in their last five games (1-4-0), they will hope to reverse their fortunes by turning to Lindgren for just his second start since the Olympic break. That said, the 32-year-old Lindgren's play hasn't been encouraging either, losing four of his last five starts (1-3-1) while posting a dreadful 4.16 GAA and .859 SV%. Washington enters Thursday's contest as +184 road underdogs against one of the NHL's hottest teams, the Buffalo Sabres.
