Winnipeg Jets News

Hellebuyck will start against the Islanders on Tuesday.

The Jets have the worst record in the NHL since mid-November (5-15-5), but hope their current two-game winning streak is a sign of an upward trend. Hellebuyck, their three-time Vezina Trophy-winning goalie, has not impressed lately as well, posting an ugly 3.33 GAA and .864 SV% in his last nine outings (1-5-3). That said, the Jets enter Tuesday's contest as -121 home favorites against a New York Islanders team that has points in four straight games (3-0-1).

Miller (lower-body) has been placed on IR retroactive to January 11th.

Miller exited Sunday's 4-3 win over the New Jersey Devils late in the first period because of a lower-body injury and he has subsequently been placed on Injured Reserve. The 33-year-old defenseman is averaging 13:45 time-on-ice and has one assist in 15 games this season. Winnipeg has recalled Phillips from Manitoba (AHL) in a corresponding move.

The Jets are coming off a rare victory on Friday, a 5-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings, but it was with Eric Comrie between the pipes. They will turn to Hellebuyck on Saturday against the New Jersey Devils as he attempts to break his own slump. The 32-year-old three-time Vezina Trophy winner has an uncharacteristic 3.14 GAA and .876 SV% in his last 10 games (0-6-4).

Comrie will start against the Kings on Friday.

The Jets are on the tail-end of a back-to-back on Friday, so it will be Comrie who gets the latest chance of ending Winnipeg's prolonged losing streak. Comrie, as you might have guessed, was tagged with the loss in his last start, allowing six goals on 30 shots in a 6-5 loss to the Maple Leafs on New Year's Day. The 30-year-old netminder brings a 6-9-1 record and an .880 SV% into Friday night's matchup, where the Jets enter action at +110 on the money line.

Stanley will rejoin Winnipeg's lineup vs. Edmonton on Thursday after serving his one game suspension.

Stanley did not play the previous game for the Jets due to a suspension, but will re-enter the lineup on Thursday against the Edmonton Oilers. The 27-year-old defenseman is averaging 16:10 time-on-ice and has 13 points (7G / 6A) in 40 games this season.

Nyquist will be a healthy scratch vs. Edmonton on Thursday.

The Jets have been plummeting in the standings and will shake things up as they desperately search for a win, with veterans Vladislav Nemestnikov and Gustav Nyquist exiting the lineup as healthy scratches. The 36-year-old Nyquist was acquired in the offseason to mitigate some of the scoring the team lost after Nikolaj Ehlers signed with the Carolina Hurricanes, but unfortunately for the Jets, Nyquist has done very little on the ice. The 36-year-old Nyquist has eight assists and has yet to score a goal through 31 games this season.

Gustav Nyquist
Namestnikov is expected to be a healthy scratch vs. Edmonton on Thursday.

The 33-year-old Namestnikov has eight points (6G / 2A) in 41 games and has only one point (0G / 1A) in his last 26 outings.

Hellebuyck will start vs. Edmonton on Thursday.

The Jets went 3-8-1 in 12 games with Hellebuyck sidelined due to a knee injury, but unfortunately for them, their struggles have continued since Hellebuyck's return. The 32-year-old goalie has just one win since returning to the lineup in mid December, posting a 2.84 GAA and .886 SV% through 10 games (1-5-4). The Jets enter the action on Thursday as +102 home underdogs against an Oilers team coming off a 6-2 win over the Nashville Predators.
