Winnipeg Jets News

Connor Hellebuyck will start Tuesday vs. New Jersey.

Hellebuyck allowed three goals on 29 shots (.897 SV%) in the Jets most recent game on Saturday, a 3-2 loss to the Dallas Stars, and will attempt to get back into the win column as he is set to start against the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday. After finishing third in Vezina voting last season, posting a quality start in more than two-thirds of games (68.8%), Hellebuyck has struggled in the 2023-24 season, posting a career-worst 2.98 GAA and .892 SV%, only securing a quality start in approximately one-third of games (38.4%). That said, Hellebuyck and the Jets are -141 home favourites against a New Jersey Devils team that has lost three of four (1-3-0) and continues to be without Jack Hughes.

Skinner will start Monday's game against the Islanders.

The Oilers will turn to Skinner again after he helped them snap a four-game losing streak on Saturday, saving 17 of 18 shots in a 4-1 win over the Seattle Kraken. Monday night's contest against the New York Islanders will mark the Oilers' first game with new head coach Kris Knoblauch after Jay Woodcroft was fired on Sunday. The pressure of a new coach and the Islanders' general inability to score (2.46 GF / GP) attribute to the Oilers being listed as -171 home favourites.

Skinner will start Thursday's game in San Jose.

With the surprise waiving of Jack Campbell earlier this week Stuart Skinner is now the Oilers' starter and will take the crease Thursday vs. San Jose. The 25-year-old was an All-Star last season but has been horrendous so far in 2023-24, with his 1-4-1 record, .856 SV% and 3.99 GAA. He takes on the historically struggling San Jose Sharks, who snapped an 11-game losing streak with a victory last game over PHI and are last in the NHL in both shots per game (24.8) and goals per game (1.17).

Hellebuyck will start in St. Louis on Tuesday.

Hellebuyck will get his fourth consecutive start on Tuesday as the Winnipeg Jets are -137 road favourites against the St. Louis Blues. Hellebuyck is coming off a 22-save performance in which he allowed three goals in a 5-3 victory over the Arizona Coyotes. However, he has not been the dominant goalkeeper the league has become accustomed to over the years, posting a 3.08 GAA and .890 SV% through nine games (5-3-1) and has recorded a sub- .900 SV% in each of his last three outings (1-1-1). That said, he will look to regain his form against the low-scoring Blues, who rank 29th in the league offensively (2.40 GF / GP).

Skinner will start Monday's game in Vancouver.

Skinner will draw his third start in four games Monday after taking a breather for Saturday's loss vs. Nashville. The 25-year-old was an All-Star in 2022-23 but has been horrendous this season, with his 1-3-1 record, .861 SV% and 3.62 GAA. He takes on the red-hot Vancouver Canucks on the road Monday, who have won three straight games and lead the NHL in goals per game (4.36).

Connor Hellebuyck will start Saturday vs. Arizona.

Hellebuyck has dropped his previous two contests after allowing four goals on 25 shots (.840 SV%) in his last start but will take the crease for Saturday's matinee vs. Arizona. The 30-year-old workhorse has struggled early on in 2023-24, with his 4-3-1 record, .891 SV% and 3.09 GAA. He will face the Arizona Coyotes, who have won two of their last three games and are 12th in the NHL in goals per game (3.3).

Hellebuyck will start in Vegas on Thursday.

The Jets' workhorse goaltender will be between the pipes for the eighth time in 10 games on Thursday as he hopes to rebound from a 3-2 overtime loss at the hands of the New York Rangers on Monday. Hellebuyck has been somewhat inconsistent this season but has still managed a 4-2-1 record despite only three quality starts and a 2.96 GAA and .898 SV%. Hellebuyck and the Jets are +127 road underdogs against the Vegas Golden Knights, who are one of only two teams yet to lose in regulation (9-0-1).

Connor Hellebuyck
Skinner will start Thursday's game against the Stars.

Skinner seems to have taken a grasp on the Oilers' starting role as he is set to start his third-straight game for Edmonton Thursday as they take on Dallas. The 25-year-old was an All-Star in his rookie season in 2022-23, but has struggled thus far this season as he is 1-2-1 with a .863 SV% and 3.51 GAA. He takes on the red-hot Dallas Stars, who have points in all but one of their games this season (6-1-1) but are 18th in the NHL in goals per game (3.13) and 21st in shots per game (29.8).

Haydn Fleury has been reassigned to Syracuse (AHL) on a conditioning assignment.

Fleury has appeared in two games so far this season for the Lightning and has an assist, and a +1 plus/minus but has been reassigned to Syracuse (AHL) Thursday for a conditioning assignment. The 27-year-old returns to the AHL for the first time since 2018-19 when he was with Charlotte (AHL) so he should be back up with Tampa sooner rather than later.

Hellebuyck will start against the Rangers on Monday.

Hellebuyck served as the backup for the Jets on Saturday for the second time this season as he watched Laurent Brossoit allow three goals on 29 shots in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Montreal Canadiens. Hellebuyck started the season uncharacteristically with a .843 SV% in his first three games (1-2-0) but has looked more like himself in his three games since (3-0-0), recording a sparkling .948 SV%. The Jets are +109 home underdogs against a New York Rangers team that ranks 17th in the league offensively (3.13 GF/GP)
