For the fourth time this season, Adam Brooks has been claimed off waivers, this time by the Winnipeg Jets.

The claim comes two days after being claimed off of waivers by the Toronto Maple Leafs, the team he initially started the season with. The Leafs had to place him on waivers due to cap concerns, as they had to send down Timothy Liljegren to be compliant when they claimed him.

Brooks started the season with the Leafs, who drafted him in the fourth round back in 2016, and developed him. He made his NHL debut in 2019-20 and played seven games, and got 11 more games in 2020-21, including four goals that season.

Brooks didn’t make the Leafs roster out of training camp, and as a result, he was put on waivers and claimed by the Montreal Canadiens. He played just four games for them before being placed on waivers, and was claimed by the Vegas Golden Knights. He got into seven games for them before once again being placed on waivers, and claimed by the Leafs.

The main reason the Jets claimed him now and not a couple days ago was because they’ve had a couple more injuries since then, with both Andrew Copp and Cole Perfetti out with upper body injuries. Brooks adds a little bit more depth to the team when they need it, and doesn’t cost them anything either.
