Brad Marchand will not play the second of the Bruins back-to-back Friday

Marchand is just returning from offseason hip surgery and will likely need a night's rest after returning almost a month ahead of schedule for the Bruins' 5-1 victory last night. Marchand did not miss a beat as he had two goals and an assist while playing 17:31 TOI. He will be back in the Bruins' lineup their next time out as this is nothing more than a day of rest.

Tristian Jarry will start Friday vs. Vancouver

Jarry allowed a season high six goals on 47 shots (.872 SV%) as he earned his first loss of the season his last time out in a 6-3 game vs. Edmonton. The Penguins' starter has been very solid so far this season as shown by his 4-1-0 record and .923 SV%. He draws the start against the Canucks who playing their second game of a back-to-back after winning their first game of the season Thursday in a 5-4 win over Seattle

Lane Pederson was traded to the Vancouver Canucks Friday

Pederson was dealt along with Ethan Bear for a 2023 5th-round pick. Pederson never got to play an NHL game for the Carolina Hurricanes before being health but has enjoyed two seasons prior with the Sharks and Coyotes. In 44 career games, he has one goal and four assists while posting a -18 plus/minus.

David Krejci is out Friday after taking a high stick Thursday

Krejci took a hearing-worthy high stick in Thursday night's victory from Michael Rasmussen of the Detroit Red Wings. The 36-year-old veteran had been enjoying a resurgent return to the NHL after taking last season off, collecting eight points (2G/6A) in his first eight games back.

Valeri Nichuskin will miss Friday's game due to a lower-body Injury

Nichuskin will not dress Friday vs. the Devils after head coach Jared Bednar announced he is day-to-day with a lower-body injury. It is a huge blow for the Avalanche who will now be without their top goal and point scorer as Nichuskin had seven goals and five assists through his first seven games to start 2022-23.

Pavel Francouz will start Friday for the Avalanche vs. New Jersey

Francouz will get his first start in a week after losing his previous game 3-2 to Seattle, stopping 35 of 38 shots (.921 SV%) in the loss. He will be looking to improve his .877 SV% and 4.10 GAA as he tries to pick up his first win in three starts this season. The Avalanche will take on the New Jersey Devils who have won three of their last four games and are coming off an impressive 6-2 win over the Red Wings Tuesday.

Sorokin has been perfect so far this week, shutting out the New York Rangers off a 41-save performance his last time out Wednesday. Sorokin has been very solid despite his 2-3-0 record this season, averaging a great 2.26 GAA and .931 SV%. He takes on the Carolina Hurricanes who won their last game 3-2 and ranks third-best in the league in goals against per game (2.33).

Frederik Andersen will start Friday for the Hurricanes

Andersen barely broke a sweat in his previous outing, stopping 14 of 16 shots (.875 SV%) on his way to a closer-than-planned 3-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks. He has been his usual hard-to-beat self this season, picking up a 3-1-0 record to far along with a low 2.26 GAA and .913 SV%. He takes on the New York Islanders who are riding high after their 3-1 victory over the cross-state rival Rangers their last time out.
