NHL Hockey Player News

Markstrom will start against the Flyers on Saturday.

Markstrom has impressed despite posting a 1-2 record this season, registering a .922 SV% and a 2.38 GAA. He draws another difficult assignment tonight against the Flyers. Though they've played just two games, Philadelphia is averaging an even four goals and 36 shots per game to start the 2019-20 season.

Jacob Markstrom
Fleury is expected to start against the Flames on Saturday.

Fleury will be relied on more than ever after backup Malcolm Subban suffered a fractured larynx in Thursday's game against Arizona. Fleury is off to another great start, posting a .925 SV% and a 2.20 GAA in four appearances this season. He's a must start in fantasy whenever he gets the call, and that includes tonight's matchup against a talented Flames team.

Marc-Andre Fleury
Rittich was the first goalie off the ice at the Flames morning skate on Saturday.

Rittich has been outstanding to start the season as he refuses to let Cam Talbot see the ice. The 27-year-old owns a .929 SV%, a 2.46 GAA, and a 2-1-1 record through his first four games. He'll see plenty of work tonight against a Golden Knights team that's averaging 34 shots per game.

David Rittich
Murray will start in Minnesota on Saturday.

Murray allowed one goal on 32 shots in the Penguins win over Anaheim on Thursday. Murray will start his fifth consecutive game tonight in Minnesota. He has posted a 2.52 GAA and .920 SV% though four games and the Wild remain winless, so Murray should be in your lineups tonight.

Matt Murray
Francouz will start against the Coyotes on Saturday.

It will be the first start of Francouz's career, although he did make a pair of relief appearances last season, stopping 33 of the 35 shots he faced in those two games. He registered a 27-20-1 record with the AHL's Colorado Eagles last season, posting a 2.68 GAA and a .918 SV%. He's worth considering for a spot start against Arizona if you're desperate for goalie stats.

Pavel Francouz
Samsonov will start in Dallas on Saturday.

Saturday will be the second start of the season for the former 2015 first-round pick. Samsonov impressed in his first start, stopping 25 of the 26 shots he faced on route to a 2-1 victory over the Islanders. He is a talented young goaltender, but he draws a difficult matchup tonight against a Dallas team that excels on home ice.

Ilya Samsonov
Smith will start in New York on Saturday.

Smith allowed five goals on 32 shots in the Oilers win over the Kings last Saturday. Smith played well in his first two starts with Edmonton, going 2-0-0 while allowing seven goals on 65 shots (.892 SV%). Mikko Koskinen started the last two games, but they’ll come back to Smith this afternoon. The Rangers haven’t played in a week and have scored 10 goals in their first two games.

Mike Smith
Andersen will start in Detroit on Saturday.

Andersen was lit up for seven goals on 28 shots in the Maple Leafs loss to the Lightning on Thursday. After winning both of his first two starts, Andersen has dropped back-to-back games while giving up a combined 10 goals on 58 shots (.828 SV%). He’ll try to get back on track in Detroit on Saturday—Andersen was 1-0-1 with a 2.96 GAA and .903 SV% in two games vs. the Red Wings last year.

Frederik Andersen
Khudobin will start against the Capitals on Saturday.

Khudobin's only other start this season was a 4-3 defeat at the hands of the Red Wings on October 6. He allowed four goals on 33 shots. He draws a difficult assignment tonight against the high-scoring Capitals. Khudobin posted a 16-17-5 record in 41 appearances last season, registering a 2.57 GAA and a .923 SV%.

Anton Khudobin
Schneider will start in Boston on Saturday.

Schneider allowed four goals on 34 shots in the Devils loss in Philadelphia on Wednesday. The Devils are still looking for their first win on the season and it seems unlikely that it will come Saturday in Boston. Schneider is 2-11-1 in his last 13 road starts, so steer clear of him tonight.

Cory Schneider
Dubnyk will start against the Penguins on Saturday.

Dubnyk gave up four goals on 31 shots in the Wild’s loss in Winnipeg on Thursday. Dubnyk has endured a tough start to the season, going 0-3-0 with a 3.73 GAA and .882 SV%. Maybe the home-opener can get Dubnyk going. He was 12-15-4 with a 2.56 GAA and .911 SV% at Xcel Energy Center last year, so home-ice advantage didn’t really seem to matter much to the 33-year-old.

Devan Dubnyk
Lehner will make his Blackhawks debut against the Jets on Saturday.

Corey Crawford started the season opener and the home opener but Lehner will make his Blackhawks debut on Saturday. Lehner was outstanding in 2018-19, going 25-13-5 with a 2.13 GAA, .930 SV% and six shutouts with the Islanders. Chicago is giving up the fifth-most shots per game, so he’ll be much busier with his new team and has a tough matchup vs. a Jets team that is averaging 3.60 goals per game through five games.

Robin Lehner
Binnington was the first goalie off the ice at the Blues morning skate on Saturday.

Binnington allowed two goals on 34 shots in the Blues win in Toronto on Monday. With Jake Allen starting on Thursday, Binnington will come into Saturday’s game well rested. Since being called up in the middle of last season Binnington is an impressive 11-3-1 with a .934 SV% in 15 road starts.

Jordan Binnington
Rask will start against the Devils on Saturday.

Rask allowed three goals on 34 shots in the Bruins win in Vegas on Tuesday. Rask has opened the season with back-to-back wins, stopping 59 of the 63 shots (.937 SV%) that he has faced. Jaroslav Halak has played well too, but the Bruins will come back to Rask vs. a Devils team that has stumbled out of the gate.

Tuukka Rask
Howard was in the starter's net at the Red Wings morning skate on Saturday.

Howard allowed three goals on 29 shots in the Red Wings loss to the Ducks on Tuesday. Howard has given up three goals in each of his first two starts, going 1-1-0 with a .915 SV%. While Howard has been solid, Saturday’s matchup is not appealing. Howard went 1-1-0 against Toronto last season, with a 2.97 GAA and .891 SV%.

Jimmy Howard
Lundqvist will start against the Oilers on Saturday.

Lundqvist allowed four goals on 47 shots in the Rangers season-opening win over the Jets on October 3rd. Alexandar Georgiev started their second game but thanks to a quirky schedule, Lundqvist will make his second start nine days after his first. The Rangers offence has been impressive through two games, so it could carry King Henrik to the ‘W’ vs. Edmonton on Saturday.

Henrik Lundqvist
Montembeault is expected to start on Long Island on Saturday.

Montembeault allowed one goal on 20 shots after replacing Sergei Bobrovsky in the Panthers loss to the Hurricanes on Tuesday. With Bobrovsky starting Friday in Buffalo, Montembeault will make his first start of the season on the tail-end of the back-to-back. It’s a solid matchup against an offensively challenged Islanders team, making him a reasonable spot-start option if you’re desperate.

Sam Montembeault
