Maroon has not scored a goal in 13 games this season and has played under 10 minutes in two straight games. It is unclear whether or not Maroon is banged up or if he will be a healthy scratch on Friday.
Nieves has not played this season because of a concussion but will go to Hartford to get back to game speed. Nieves had 21 points (8G / 13A) in 40 games with the Wolf Pack last year.
Hertl will miss his second straight game with a head injury, which means that Antti Suomela will remain in the Sharks lineup. Missing tonight’s game also leaves Hertl questionable for Friday’s matchup in St. Louis.
Hellebuyck surrendered four goals on 26 shots in the Jets loss to the Panthers in Finland last Friday. Hellebuyck has now allowed three-plus goals in four of his last five starts, giving up a combined 17 goals on 168 shots (.899 SV%). Tonight he faces an Avalanche team that comes in fourth in the NHL in scoring (3.53 GF/PG).
Talbot allowed four goals on 23 shots in the Oilers loss in Washington on Monday. Mikko Koskinen started and lost on Tuesday, so they’ll come back to Talbot tonight in Florida. Talbot has gone 3-3-0 with a 2.86 GAA and .899 SV% in six road starts this season.
Pickard allowed two goals on 36 shots in the Flyers win in Arizona on Monday. Even with Brian Elliott back from injury, Pickard will make his third consecutive start on Thursday. He has had a tough season, but has stopped 65 of 71 shots (.916 SV%) in his last two outings. Pickard has a solid matchup as he closes out a home-and-home with the Coyotes.
Vasilevskiy allowed two goals on 35 shots in the Lightning’s 5-2 win over the Oilers on Tuesday. Vasilevskiy has gone 5-1-0 with a 1.84 GAA, .938 SV% and one shutout in his last six starts. The 24-year-old has been outstanding this season and is a must-start tonight with the Islanders in town.
Crawford surrendered four goals on 40 shots in the Blackhawks loss in Calgary on Saturday. Crawford played very well when he first returned from injury, but has since lost three in a row while allowing a combined 14 goals on 104 shots (.865 SV%). He might have an opportunity to get back on track tonight vs. a Hurricanes team that is on a five-game losing streak.
Darling allowed three goals on 25 shots in the Hurricanes loss in Vegas on Saturday. Darling has lost each of his first two starts since returning from injury, allowing a combined six goals on 56 shots (.893 SV%). Tonight he gets a chance against his former team and friend Corey Crawford. Darling has gone 1-0-1 while posting a 2.99 GAA and .889 SV% in two starts vs. Chicago.
Goligoski missed Wednesday’s practice, but could play Thursday in Philadelphia. Goligoski is listed as a game-time decision, so monitor his status as the Coyotes hit the ice for warmups.
Howden missed Tuesday’s game vs. the Canadiens, but was back on the ice this morning and will play Friday in Detroit. Howden has three goals and six assists (nine points) in 14 games this season.
Lundqvist allowed three goals on 34 shots in the Rangers win over the Canadiens on Tuesday. Lundqvist has rattled off three straight wins, turning away an impressive 101 of 108 shots (.935 SV%) that he has faced. Tonight he takes on a Red Wings team that is heating up, winning four of their last five games while averaging 3.8 goals for per game.
Jones allowed three goals on 26 shots in the Sharks win over the Wild on Tuesday. Jones has been red-hot as of late, going 6-0-1 with a 2.54 GAA and .909 SV% in his last seven starts. That stretch has been great for fantasy owners, but Jones has struggled to 3-2-0, 3.00 GAA and .897 SV% on the road this season.
Khudobin allowed two goals on 35 shots in the Stars loss in Boston on Monday. Khudobin has played very well in his last two starts, stopping 64 of 67 shots (.955 SV%). So far this season, Khudobin has posted a 2.22 GAA and .929 SV% in four starts. As well as he has played, Khudobin draws a tough matchup with the Sharks in town.
Byron has been out since October 30th and is expected to miss a couple more weeks after the Canadiens called him “week-to-week.” With Byron out, Andrew Shaw has taken on a larger role.
Kuemper allowed four goals on 33 shots in the Coyotes loss to the Flyers on Monday. With Antti Raanta battling a lower-body injury, Kuemper is expected to start for the second straight game. He will face the Flyers again tonight, but has been solid so far this season—posting a 2.02 GAA and .936 SV% in four games.
Boeser won’t play Thursday, but Canucks head coach Travis Green didn’t rule out the possibility of Boeser re-joining the Canucks on their road-trip. The MRI on Boeser’s groin came back negative, but they want him to see a specialist to make sure they don’t bring him back too soon.
Markstrom allowed two goals on 30 shots in the Canucks shootout loss in Detroit on Tuesday. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for Markstrom, who will make his 11th appearance of the season tonight in Boston. Markstrom has gone 5-1-1 with a 2.74 GAA and .911 SV% in his last seven starts.
