Motte scored one goal on two shots with a plus-1 rating in his first two games of the season, but will come out for Tim Schaller on Tuesday.
Hutton was a healthy scratch in the first two games of the season but will replace Michael Del Zotto tonight in Carolina. Hutton’s numbers have gotten worse each season, culminating in just six assists in 61 games last season.
Schaller will make his season debut in Carolina on Tuesday. The 27-year-old will replace Tyler Motte in the lineup for his Canucks debut. He had 22 points (12G / 10A) in 82 games with the Bruins last season
Bishop allowed one goal on 33 shots in the Stars win over the Jets on Saturday. Bishop is off to an excellent start to the season, going 2-0-0 while allowing just one goal on 63 shots (.984 SV%) in his first two starts. Despite a great start, Bishop runs into a brutal matchup tonight with the Maple Leafs in town—they’re averaging 4.33 goals for per game so far.
Markstrom allowed five goals on 35 shots in the Canucks loss in Calgary on Saturday. Markstrom faced the Flames in his first two starts of the season, allowing a combined seven goals on 70 shots (.900 SV%). Tonight he faces a Hurricanes team that is 2-0-1 and averaging 4.00 goals per game so far.
The Penguins do not play until Thursday, but it seems unlikely that Murray will be available after being diagnosed with a concussion. The Penguins are expected to provide an update on their goalie’s status following Tuesday’s practice session.
Elliott allowed four goals on 34 shots in the Flyers loss in Colorado on Saturday. The veteran has allowed six goals on 59 shots (.898 SV%) in his first two starts and will play his third straight game tonight vs. the Sharks. San Jose loaded up this offseason, but they’ve averaged just 1.67 goals per game in their first three games of the season.
McElhinney was picked up off of waivers off of Toronto with Scott Darling out to start the season. In his first start with the Hurricanes, McElhinney turned aside 31 of 32 shots in the Hurricanes win in Columbus. With Petr Mrazek struggling in his first couple of starts, McElhinney will get his second start against a Canucks team that has scored nine goals in their first two games.
van Riemsdyk had five shots on goal and a minus-1 rating while averaging 16:53 TOI/GM in the first three games of the season. The Hurricanes will get Haydn Fleury his first game of the season, replacing van Riemsdyk in the lineup vs. the Canucks.
Fleury spent most of his time with the Hurricanes last year, picking up eight assists in 67 games. The former No.7 overall pick has posted strong offensive numbers at lower-levels but will be limited in Carolina because of their depth on the blueline.
MacKenzie will likely miss Thursday’s game with an upper-body injury, evidenced by the Panthers recalling Juho Lammikko from Springfield (AHL).
Lammikko, 22, was a third round pick (No.65 overall) in 2014 and has spent the last two seasons with the Thunderbirds. Lammikko has just 14 goals and 25 assists (39 points) in 108 career AHL games. He is expected to make his NHL debut on Thursday with Derek MacKenzie dealing with an upper-body injury.

Getzlaf left the Saturday’s game after playing 13:03 TOI and did not return. Getzlaf wasn’t on the ice for the Ducks morning skate, which clouds his status for tonight’s meeting with the Red Wings. If Getzlaf is unavailable, Isac Lundestrom would draw in and centre Andrew Cogliano and Kiefer Sherwood.
Landeskog did not practice on Monday and is questionable to play tomorrow in Columbus. The Avalanche are hopeful that he will be available, but Matt Calvert skated on the Avalanche top line with Landeskog unavailable.
Gibson stopped all 41 shots that he faced in the Ducks shutout win over the Coyotes on Saturday. It was a terrible game for the Ducks, but Gibson absolutely stole two points for the road team. Gibson has been stellar to start the year, stopping 72 of 74 shots (.973 SV%) and is a must-start tonight vs. the Red Wings.
