NHL Hockey Player News

The Devils have placed Ben Lovejoy (lower-body) on injured reserve.

Lovejoy missed Saturday’s game with a lower-body injury and will miss at least Thursday’s vs. the Predators after being placed on IR. His roster spot was filled by Eric Gryba, who was called up from Binghamton (AHL) in a corresponding move.

Ben Lovejoy
Bobrovsky will start Tuesday vs. the Coyotes.

Bobrovsky allowed three goals on 25 shots in the Blue Jackets loss to the Blackhawks on Saturday. Bobrovsky has alternated wins and losses through his first five starts, posting a 3.84 GAA and .876 SV% in the process. Bobrovsky has looked a little better in his most recent games and has a solid matchup against a Coyotes team that is last in goal-scoring (1.43 GF/PG) so far this season.

Sergei Bobrovsky
Holtby will start Monday in Vancouver.

Nilsson allowed four goals on 32 shots in the Canucks loss in Winnipeg last Thursday. The win snapped a three-game winning streak for Nilsson, who will make his fifth start tonight vs. the Capitals. Despite a strong start from Jacob Markstrom on Saturday, the Canucks will come back to Nilsson tonight—trying to build some competition in the crease.

Braden Holtby
Galchenyuk (lower-body) will be a game-time decision on Tuesday.

Galchenyuk skated on the top-line in Coyotes’ practice on Monday and it looks as if he will make his Arizona debut tomorrow. The Coyotes top line could make some noise with the 24-year-old skating alongside Clayton Keller and former first-rounder Lawson Crouse. Galchenyuk had 19 goals and 32 assists (51 points) in 82 games with the Canadiens last season.

Alex Galchenyuk
Brown (finger) will travel on the Kings upcoming road-trip but is not eligible to come off of LTIR until Sunday.

The belief is that Brown will accompany the Kings on their road-trip and play Sunday in New York when he is first eligible to be activated. The Kings have struggled without Brown in the lineup and his return would bring some offence and physicality to the top-6.

Dustin Brown
Nilsson will start Monday vs. the Capitals.

Anders Nilsson
Georgiev will start Tuesday vs. the Panthers.

Georgiev allowed seven goals on 39 shots in the Rangers loss in Carolina on October 7th. Georgiev went down to the AHL last week to get some starts in, going 1-1-0 with a 3.02 GAA and .905 SV%. The 22-year-old draws a really difficult matchup tonight with the Panthers in town—they are tied for 11th in scoring (3.33 GF/PG) through their first six games.

Alexandar Georgiev
The Kings have recalled Sean Walker from Ontario (AHL).

Walker, 23, was an undrafted free agent out of Bowling Green State University. Walker had 28 points (7G / 21A) in 64 games during his first pro season with Ontario in 2017-18 and has amassed six points (3G / 3A) in his first seven games this season. His call-up means the Kings are carrying eight defenseman on their active roster right now.

Sean Walker
The Kings have sent Jaret Anderson-Dolan to Spokane (WHL).

Anderson-Dolan, 19, had one assist in five games with the Kings and was given a look up and down the lineup, including PP1 usage at times. Overall, the Kings think it is best for the 2017 second-round pick to return to Juniors, where he had 91 points (40G / 51A) in 70 games last season.

Jaret Anderson-Dolan
Bourtuzzo (lower-body) returned to St. Louis; will not play on Monday.

Bortuzzo scored a goal and played 17:46 TOI while replacing Jay Bouwmeester in the Blues lineup on Saturday, but suffered a lower-body injury in process. Bortuzzo returned to St. Louis to undergo some testing, so look for Bouwmeester to replace him in Winnipeg.

Robert Bortuzzo
Luongo (Knee) returned to practice on Monday. A date for his return has not been set, but he will travel with the team on their upcoming two-week road trip.

Luongo hasn't played since suffering an MCL injury in the Panthers' season opener. The 39-year-old net-minder posted an impressive .929 SV% in 35 appearances for Florida last season. While he is the number one goalie on their depth chart, Luongo should continue to regularly concede starts to backup James Reimer when he returns to the lineup. Reimer has struggled so far this season, registering a 0-2-1 record and a .867 SV% in four appearances.

Roberto Luongo
Dano will make his Avalanche debut on Monday.

Dano was claimed off of waivers from the Jets and will make his Colorado debut in Philadelphia. Just like most of his time in Winnipeg, Dano will skate on Colorado’s fourth line tonight, but has a path to more ice-time if he plays well. The 23-year-old former first-round pick has just 19 goals and 26 assist (45 points) in 130 career NHL games.

Marko Dano
Allen will start Monday in Winnipeg.

Allen stopped 22 of 23 shots in the Blues win in Toronto on Saturday. It was a big win for Allen, who is now 2-2-2 with a 3.44 GAA and .886 SV% in his first six starts of the season. Tonight he faces the Jets for the first time since opening night, when he allowed five goals on 25 shots in 5-1 loss.

Jake Allen
Jones (knee) will make his season debut on Tuesday.

Jones has missed the first seven games of the season with a sprained MCL that he suffered on September 25th. Jones was expected to miss 4-6 weeks, so he's returning a couple days earlier than originally expected. Jones will be reunited on the top pair with Zach Werenski, forming one of the best defensive pairings in the league. He will also play on the second power-play unit and should be a double-digit goal-scorer with 50-point upside.

Seth Jones
Varlamov will start Monday in Philadelphia.

Varlamov allowed two goals on 43 shots in Colorado’s loss in New York last Tuesday. Philipp Grubauer started the last two games, so they’ll come back to Varlamov tonight in Philadelphia. In his first two starts against the Flyers, Varlamov stopped 35 of 37 shots in a 5-2 win in Colorado on October 6th.

Semyon Varlamov
Mrazek will start Monday in Detroit.

Mrazek allowed three goals on 26 shots in the Hurricanes loss in Tampa Bay last Tuesday. Mrazek’s Hurricanes career has gotten off to a rocky start, posting a 3.07 GAA and .874 SV% in four starts. Tonight he will face his former team in Detroit. Mrazek is a risky option on most nights, but the Red Wings are averaging just 2.38 GF/PG right now and he should be motivated to get the best of them.
