NHL Hockey Player News

Nilsson will start Thursday in Nashville.

Nilsson surrendered five goals on 36 shots in the Canucks loss in Brooklyn on Tuesday. Despite the rough outing vs. the Islanders, the Canucks will come back to Nilsson for his second start in a row tonight. Nilsson is a solid 4-2-0 with a 2.51 GAA and .932 SV% on the road this season, but he will take on one of the NHL best home teams in Nashville.

Anders Nilsson
Brossoit is expected to start Thursday vs. the Maple Leafs.

Brossoit allowed two goals on 30 shots in the Oilers loss in Buffalo last Friday. With Cam Talbot (upper-body) out for at least two weeks, the Oilers will lean heavily on Brossoit. The 24-year-old has posted a 3.31 GAA and .881 SV% in three starts and three relief appearances this season and draws a rough matchup tonight vs. the vision Maple Leafs.

Laurent Brossoit
Crawford will start Thursday vs. the Stars.

Crawford allowed three goals on 29 shots in the Blackhawks win over the Ducks on Monday. Anton Forsberg gave him a break on Tuesday, so they’ll come back to Crawford tonight vs. the Stars. The 32-year-old has gone 6-3-1 with a 2.28 GAA and .930 SV% in 10 starts at the United Center so far this season—good for someone who is taking on a Stars team that has struggled on the road.

Corey Crawford
Quick was the first goalie off of the ice at the Kings morning skate.

Quick stopped 23 of 24 shots in the Kings win over the Red Wings on Tuesday. Following a six-game losing streak, Quick has won his last two starts while stopping 48 of 50 shots (.960 SV%). Tonight he will take on a Capitals team that has won four of their last five games while averaging 3.20 goals per game.

Jonathan Quick
Rinne is expected to start Thursday vs. the Canucks.

Rinne stopped 37 of 39 shots in the Predators win over the Blackhawks on Tuesday. It was another spectacular outing for Rinne, who is now riding a five-game winning streak—he has a 1.77 GAA, .946 SV% and one shutout over that stretch. Tonight he will start as the Predators host the Canucks and Rinne has yet to lose in regulation (9-0-1) in 10 starts on home ice—with a 2.45 GAA and .919 SV%.

Pekka Rinne
Dorsett (neck) will not return to the Canucks active roster; effectively ending his NHL career.

This is a tough break for the veteran tough guy who was involved more offensive at the start of 2017-18 than he had been at any point in his NHL career. After the 20-game mark, Dorsett was on-pace for a career-high 29 goals and 303 PIMS but an on-going neck injury will force the 30-year-old to walk away from hockey at the recommendation of doctors.
