Originally selected in the first round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, Barron leaves Montreal after registering 13 goals and 18 assists in just 109 career games spread out across parts of four seasons. He scored just one goal and did not register an assist in 17 games with the Habs this season.
Carrier has not played since suffering an upper-body injury on December 7th but has reportedly been cleared to play. Carrier comes to the Habs after putting up 11 goals and 58 assists in 245 career games with the Predators.
The Jets are on the tail-end of a back-to-back, giving Comrie the opportunity to make just his eighth start of the season on Wednesday. Comrie took the loss for a fourth consecutive start his last time out, allowing three goals on 27 shots in a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Blue Jackets. He still owns a respectable .901 SV% on the season but has not registered a win since November 1st. That being said, Comrie has a great chance of getting back in the win column on Wednesday, as the Jets enter action at -165 on the money line.
Ehlers just returned to skating on Friday so this was a bit of a surprise activation from the Jets. Ehlers has not played since suffering the injury on November 29th. His return is a big boost to the Jets lineup as he's been able to rack up nine goals and 16 assists in just 24 games this season.
Barkov was a late scratch on Saturday due to an illness, and missed a second straight game on Monday. The Panthers will be without Sam Bennett (illness) on Wednesday so Barkov's return could not come at a better time. He has 29 points (9G / 20A) in 22 games this season.
The Penguins needed to create a roster spot after acquiring Pierre-Olivier Joseph from the Blues on Wednesday. Clurman has one goal and four assists in 16 AHL games this season and is yet to make his NHL debut.
Edvinsson suffered the injury in the first period of Wednesday's game and was unable to return. We should receive an update on his status ahead of Detroit's game against the Habs on Friday.
Joseph returns to Pittsburgh where he spent the first four seasons of his career after just 23 games in St. Louis. Joseph failed to score as a Blue and has just two assists to his name on the season. He should see more consistent playing time for the Penguins after struggling to maintain a spot in the Blues lineup.
Matt Rempe was recalled in a corresponding move as the Rangers opted to swap their spare blue-liner for a forward after dealing Kaapo Kakko to Seattle for Will Borgen on Wednesday. Mancini has one goal and four assists in 15 games this season.
The Rangers have an opening up front after the Kaapo Kakko trade and it looks like the big bruiser Rempe will get the first opportunity to fill it. Victor Mancini was sent down to Hartford in a corresponding move.
Petrovic will get an opportunity to play in just his third game of the season as Nils Lundkvist is out with an illness. Petrovic has appeared in just three total games across the last two seasons with the Stars and is yet to register a point.
Timmins will slot back into his usual spot on the third pair after sitting out Sunday's game against the Sabres. Philippe Myers will sit in his place.
Myers will take a seat on Wednesday as Conor Timmins draws back into the Leafs lineup. Myers has no goals and one assist in seven games this season.
Borgen had reportedly been a trade target for the Rangers for quite some time but they had to pay a steep price to acquire his services, parting ways with the former second-overall pick of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft in Kakko. Borgen has just one goal and one assist in 33 games this season with the Kraken but is expected to be able to provide a lot of valuable minutes on a thin Rangers blue-line.
The second-overall pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft was never able to live up to those lofty expectations in New York, averaging just 15 goals and 17 assists per 82 games across parts of six seasons with the team. Kakko joins a much younger roster in Seattle where he should see an expanded role at 5v5 and potentially on the power-play after being limited to a bottom-six role for the majority of his time as a Ranger.
Lundkvist is the latest victim to an illness circulating the Stars locker room and will miss Wednesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The 24-year-old Lundkvist is averaging 14:31 time-on-ice and has two points (0G / 2A) in 23 games this season. Dallas recalled Alex Petrovic from Texas (AHL) as a precautionary measure.
