Salomaki has missed the last eight games with an undisclosed injury, but will be back in the lineup on Monday in Boston. He has just one goal and nine shots in eight games this season.
Varlamov allowed two goals on 43 shots in Colorado’s loss in Minnesota on Saturday. Since returning from injury, Varlamov has gone 3-3-0 with a 4.24 GAA and .912 SV%. Those numbers are still ugly, but his start on Saturday is promising. He gets a break tonight when he takes on the Wild again, but they’ll be without Devan Dubnyk tonight.
Semin has been a healthy scratch for the last five games and has registered just four points (1G / 3A) in 15 games with the Canadiens.
Kadri missed Monday’s practice with an illness, but head coach Mike Babcock said that Kadri will be in the lineup on Tuesday. Deploy Kadri like you normally would.
Bouma has been out since October 13th with a broken fibula, but was on the ice for the second straight day. He is not expected to play until next week at the earliest, but it is a good sign for the Flames that he is nearing a return.
Hutton allowed two goals on 32 shots in the Predators win in Buffalo on November 25th. Pekka Rinne has started the last three games, but it will be Hutton who goes tonight in the first game of a back-to-back. Hutton is 2-1-0 with a 2.97 GAA and .911 SV% this season, but will be in tough against a Bruins team that is third in the NHL in scoring.
McQuaid blocked a shot on his wrist in Saturday's win, but he was on the ice for the Bruins morning skate. Head coach Claude Julien would not commit to saying that McQuaid would for sure play, so we have listed him as a game-time decision.
Kero had a nice stint with the Blackhawks. Known more for his two-way play, Kero had one goal and two assists in 17 games, but his 1:37 SH/TOI per game was good for second among Blackhawks forwards. He goes back to the AHL with the team deciding to give Dennis Rasmussen a chance to make his NHL debut on Tuesday.
Rasmussen, 25, was an undrafted free agent that signed with the Blackhawks last season. His firth season in North America wasn’t great, but he is tied for second on Rockford in scoring with 14 points (7G / 7A) in 22 games and he is expected to make his NHL debut on Tuesday.
Gustavsson was pulled after giving up three goals on 11 shots in the Bruins’ OT loss to the Flames on Friday. It was Gustavsson’s first bad game of the season and tonight it looks like they will give Tuukka Rask a night off as Gustavsson stars vs. the Predators. Nashville has been a funk for the last two and a half weeks, going 2-5-2 over their last nine.
Johansson was a late scratch from Saturday’s game and missed today’s practice as well. He is listed as day-to-day, so he could be back on the ice tomorrow, but as of now, his status for Tuesday’s game vs. Detroit is in doubt.
The Capitals recalled defenseman Aaron Ness on Sunday which suggested that one of their blue liners was dealing with an injury. On Monday, it was revealed that Alzner is battling an undisclosed injury and his status for Tuesday’s game is in doubt.
Voracek has been skating on the Flyers’ third line for the last seven games but he registered six assists (all on the power-play) over that span. On Monday it was announced that Voracek will take his spot with Claude Giroux and Michael Raffl back from Brayden Schenn. After scoring 22, 23 and 22 goals in the last three seasons, Voracek has just one goal in 27 games this season.
With Luke Schenn out for the next two weeks and Radko Gudas suspended for one more game, the Flyers needed a defenseman, so they've recalled MacDonald. The 29-year-old has 13 points (1G / 12A) in 23 games with Lehigh Valley this season.
Russell missed Friday’s game vs. Boston and Sunday’s practice, which puts his status for Tuesday’s game in doubt. The blueliner has struggled this season, so a little injury break could actually end up doing him some good.
Jones left last Friday’s game with an apparent foot injury. The original belief was that Jones suffered a broken foot, but that is not the case. He is listed as day-to-day, which suggests that he may miss Tuesday’s game vs. the Sharks.
Johnson missed three games with an undisclosed injury, but returned to the lineup on Sunday. Johnson didn’t record a point, but played a healthy 17:40. Johnson and the Lightning had a lot of hype surrounding them entering the season, but Johnson has just 11 points (4G / 7A) in 22 games this year. He would make for an interesting buy-low option right now.
Miller allowed three goals on 33 shots in the Canucks loss to the Stars on Thursday. Jacob Markstrom started on Saturday, so the Canucks will go back to Miller vs. his former team on Monday. Miller has lost three in a row and the first time he faced Buffalo, he allowed three goals on 22 shots in a 3-2 loss back in early November.
Quick allowed three goals on 20 shots in the Kings win over the Penguins yesterday. Because it was a 4 p.m ET start the Kings will go with Quick for the second straight day. Quick has won three consecutive starts while posting a 1.96 GAA and .897 SV%. Back-to-back starts and a matchup with a Lightning team that is 2-0 in their first two games on the California road trip make Quick a risky start.
