
Dubnyk allowed two goals on 23 shots in the Wild’s 5-2 win over the Rangers on Thursday. The Wild are playing very well right now and their goalies are not having to work very hard. Dubnyk is 3-0-0 with a 0.85 GAA and .968 SV% in December and tonight will be his third start of the season vs. Nashville—he has gone 1-1-0 with a 1.54 GAA and .936 SV% in the first two meetings.
Kinkaid allowed one goal on 11 shots in relief of Cory Schneider in the Devils’ 4-0 loss to the Islanders last Sunday. Schneider struggled on Thursday and Saturday offers an easy matchup, so they will turn to Kinkaid tonight. Kinkaid has gone 2-3-0 with a 2.55 GAA and .903 SV% this season and 1-1-0 on home ice.
Bishop made 25 saves on 26 shots in the Lightning’s win in Columbus on Monday. Andrei Vasilevskiy started on Tuesday, but they will go back to Bishop tonight in Washington. Bishop has gone 4-1-0 with a 1.48 GAA and .948 SV% in December and tonight he will make his second start vs. the Capitals—he gave up two goals on 20 shots in a 2-1 loss last Saturday.
Luongo made 33 saves on 34 shots in the Panthers 5-1 win in Brooklyn on Tuesday. He usually starts the first game of the back-to-back, but tonight he will start the tail-end. Luongo snapped a three-game losing streak with Tuesday’s win and tonight he makes for a strong start against the offensively challenged Hurricanes.
Johnson stopped all 44 shots that he faced in the Sabres shutout win over the Ducks on Thursday. Johnson has had back-to-back unreal starts, stopping 76 of the last 77 shots that he has faced (.987 SV%). The Sabres continue to impress, but they draw a difficult matchup this afternoon vs. the Blackhawks—Chicago has won three of four while allowing just three goals against.
Miller was pulled after allowing six goals on 36 shots in the Canucks loss in Minnesota on Tuesday. Miller has lost each of his last two starts while allowing a combined nine goals on 65 shots (.862 SV%). Jacob Markstrom started last night, but it will be Miller tonight in Detroit. Miller already has an OT loss to the Red Wings this season and is dismal 3-10-3 with a 3.23 GAA and .899 SV% vs. Detroit in his career.
Hellebuyck allowed four goals on 26 shots in the Jets loss to the Blues on Tuesday. After winning his first four NHL starts, Hellebuyck has dropped his lsat two games while allowing a combined six goals on 57 shots (.895 SV%). Tonight it looks like he will face a Rangers team on a back-to-back, who come in having lost six of their last eight.
Rask stopped all 34 shots in the Bruins 2-0 shutout win over the Penguins on Wednesday. Rask has been superb as of late, winning four in a row with a 0.50 GAA, .982 SV% and two shutouts. Coming off of a shutout vs. the Penguins, he should make for an excellent start tonight in Pittsburgh.
Zatkoff allowed two goals on 28 shots in the Penguins shutout loss to the Bruins on Wednesday. The Penguins have lost five of six while averaging just 1.83 goals per game, which makes Zatkoff a risky start behind a shaky offence. Zatkoff has lost his last three starts while posting a 2.60 GAA and .921 SV%.
Ward was pulled after allowing four goals on eight shots in the Hurricanes loss in Dallas on December 8th. Ward has struggled in his last five outings, losing three while posting a 4.28 GAA and .838 SV%. Tonight he will start at home vs. a Panthers team that has scored 10 goals in their last two games. Ward is 6-2-3 with a 2.62 GAA and .900 SV% at home.
Anderson allowed three goals on 36 shots in the Senators win over the Kings on Monday. Andrew Hammond played well on Wednesday, but it looks like it will be Anderson to take on the Sharks tonight in Ottawa. Anderson is 4-4-0 with a 2.97 GAA and .913 SV% in December and comes in 7-3-3 on home ice this season.
