NHL Hockey Player News

Mason is expected to start on Tuesday.

Mason gave up two goals on 21 shots in the Flyers’ win over the Hurricanes on Saturday. It was a nice bounce-back performance for Mason, who will make his third straight start tonight. Mason has posted a 3.37 GAA and .895 SV% in 10 games this season and will be in tough tonight with Los Angeles in town. The Kings have won three of four entering play tonight.

Steve Mason
Ullmark will start in goal on Tuesday.

Ullmark allowed two goals on 38 shots in the Sabres’ win in Florida last Thursday. Ullmark has won four of his six starts while posting a 2.46 GAA and .924 SV% since being called-up. Ullmark has outplayed Chad Johnson, earning himself the start tonight vs. Dallas. He is a risky start against the NHL’s highest scoring team—Dallas averages 3.61 goals per game.

Linus Ullmark
Berra will start Tuesday in Toronto.

Berra made 39 saves on 40 shots in Saturday’s 6-1 win over the Canadiens. Berra struggled in his first full season with the Avalanche, posting a 2.65 GAA and .918 SV%, but 2015-16 has be a rebirth for the 28-year-old. Berra currently leads the NHL in GAA (1.50) and SV% (.953). Tonight he will face a Maple Leafs team that has warmed up, but it is still a good matchup.

Reto Berra
Jones starts Tuesday in Boston.

Jones made 30 saves on 31 shots in the Sharks win in Buffalo on Saturday. Jones won both games of San Jose’s back-to-back last weekend, stopping 56 of 59 shots (.949 SV%). On Tuesday he will make his eighth road start of the season—he has been spectacular away from San Jose this season, going 6-1-0 with a 1.68 GAA and .939 SV%.

Martin Jones
Ramo gets the nod on Tuesday vs. New Jersey.

Ramo allowed three goals on 40 shots in the Flames loss in Chicago on Sunday. Since being recalled from Stockton (AHL), Ramo has gone 4-4-0 with a 3.01 GAA and .905 SV%. On Tuesday he will make his ninth consecutive start—he will face a Devils team that ranks 21st in scoring but still carry a 10-6-1 record.

Karri Ramo
Schneider starts Tuesday in Calgary.

Schneider stopped all 21 shots that he faced in the Devils’ shutout win over the Penguins on Saturday. Schneider has been insane over the last 30 days, winning nine of 12 while posting a 1.98 GAA and .926 SV%. Schneider is one of the NHL’s hottest net minders and is a must-start vs. the Flames, who have lost three of four.

Cory Schneider
The Flames have sent Derek Grant back to Stockton (AHL).

Grant had no points and a minus-3 rating in one games during his time with the Flames. He may have failed to record a point, but he was impressive in the face-off circle, winning 56.8% of the face-offs he took, tops on the team. His demotion suggests that Jonas Hiller is ready to be activated from IR.

Derek Grant
Hornqvist (undisclosed) did not practice on Monday.

Hornqvist left Saturday’s game in New Jersey with an undisclosed injury and he missed Monday’s practice. A number of Penguins’ forwards missed practice because of illnesses, but there was no word whether that is what Hornqvist is dealing with. Expect an update on his status on Tuesday.

Patric Hornqvist
Schultz (back) rotated in among regulars in Oilers' practice on Monday.

Schultz is two and a half weeks into a 2-4 week timetable. He was in practice on Monday and rotated into his regular spot during line rushes which indicates he is nearing a return to the lineup. Monitor Schultz’s status as the week progresses.

Justin Schultz
Girgensons (undisclosed) missed Monday's practice; questionable for Tuesday.

Girgensons missed Monday’s practice with an undisclosed injury and could miss Tuesday’s game vs. the Stars. Girgensons was hit hard on Saturday which is likely the reason for today’s absence. Monitor his status on Tuesday morning, but his two points in 17 games has him well off of the fantasy radar right now.

Zemgus Girgensons
Bogosian (lower-body) is expected to play this week.

Bogosian is expected to play this week and it could be as soon as Tuesday. Bogosian has yet to play this season because of a lower-body injury but has been practicing and is definitely close to play. The 25-year-old had seven assists while averaging 26:34 in 21 games with the Sabres last season.

Zach Bogosian
Samuelsson will make his season debut on Monday.

Samuelsson, 24, recorded four assists in 10 games with Springfield before being recalled, tonight he will make his season debut and is still in search of his first career NHL point. Samuelsson will skate with Connor Murphy on the Coyotes’ third pair.
