Tavares (illness) is expected to be out for “a little bit.”

Tavares missed both games this weekend and Monday’s practice. Head coach Jack Capuano said after the session that Tavares is still very sick and that he doesn’t “expect him [back] for a little bit.” It seems highly unlikely that Tavares will be available for Tuesday’s game vs. New Jersey.

John Tavares
Niemi was the first goalie off of the ice at the Stars morning skate.

Niemi surrendered three goals on 29 shots in the Stars win over the Sharks on Saturday. Niemi has won each of his last five starts and will be starting for the sixth time in seven games. Niemi enters Monday’s game at 6-1-0 with a 2.61 GAA and .915 SV%. He is a must-start vs. a Maple Leafs team who is averaging just 2.00 goals per game.

Antti Niemi
Miller will be back in goal on Monday vs. the Flyers.

Miller allowed four goals on 29 shots in the Canucks loss in Dallas last Thursday. Miller was given a much deserved rest on Friday, but he will be back in goal tonight vs. the Flyers. Miller has enjoyed a nice start to the season, posting a 2.16 GAA and .923 SV% in 10 starts. He draws a great matchup vs. a Flyers team that is 28th in the NHL in scoring.

Ryan Miller
Hossa (lower-body) did not take part in the morning skate.

Hossa is dealing with a lower-body injury and his absence from the morning skate suggests that he will miss tonight’s game vs. the Kings. With Hossa out, the Blackhawks have recalled Ryan Hartman and Marko Dano, but Ryan Garbutt is expected to take his spot on the top line.

Marian Hossa
Crawford gets the nod on Monday vs. the Kings.

Crawford allowed three goals on 31 shots in the Blackhawks loss in Winnipeg on Thursday. He was given Friday night off, but will be back in goal tonight vs. Los Angeles. Thursday’s loss snapped a four-game wining streak for Crawford, who is 5-3-0 with a 1.76 GAA and .938 SV% in eight starts. He has been great on home ice, going 4-1-0 with a 1.21 GAA and .953 SV%.

Corey Crawford
Schneider will start on Tuesday vs. the Islanders.

Schneider allowed two goals on 26 shots in the Devils shootout win over the Islanders on Saturday. The Devils were not expected to win a lot this season, but Schneider has won six out of his last seven starts while posting a 2.23 GAA and .913 SV% over that span. Tonight he will face the Isles again, but this time on the road. He catches a break with John Tavares likely out.

Cory Schneider
Spaling (undisclosed) will play on Monday vs. Dallas.

Spaling missed the last three games, but will be back in the Maple Leafs’ lineup on Monday vs. the Stars. Spaling will centre the third line with Joffrey Lupul and Daniel Winnik on his wings. He has one assist in seven games this season.

Nick Spaling
Hoffman (lower-body) will return to the Senators lineup on Tuesday.

Hoffman has missed the last four games with a lower-body injury, but he will be back in the lineup on Tuesday. Hoffman has had a nice start to the season, scoring four goals with four assists (eight points) in his first seven games. With Hoffman back at 100 percent the Senators sent Max McCormick back to Binghamton (AHL).

Mike Hoffman
Green (upper-body) returned to practice on Monday.

Green has missed the last four games with an upper-body injury, but he returned to practice this morning and could be back in the lineup later in the week. Green has two assists in seven games with his new squad.

Mike Green
Reimer will start Monday vs. the Stars.

Throughout the morning skate it looked as if Jonathan Bernier would start tonight, but head coach Mike Babcock announced that Reimer will be in goal vs. the Stars. Reimer allowed four goals on 24 shots in a loss to the Coyotes in his last outing. He has one win in four starts while posting a sub-par 3.25 GAA and .876 SV%.

The Blackhawks have reassigned Bryan Bickell to Rockford (AHL).

Bickell cleared waivers back on October 3rd, but stayed with the team through the first month of the season. Bickell served as a healthy scratch in four of the last five games. He had no points and a minus-3 rating in seven games this season.

Bryan Bickell
The Blackhawks have recalled Marko Dano from Rockford (AHL).

Dano, 20, has seven points (1G / 6A) in nine games with Rockford. Dano’s recall means that the young forward could make his Blackhawks debut on Monday vs. the Kings. He has 21 points (8G / 13A) in 35 career NHL games.

Marko Dano
Bernier is the Maple Leafs' likely starter on Monday.

Bernier allowed four goals on 32 shots in the Maple Leafs loss to the Penguins on Saturday. Bernier has lost all seven of his starts while posting a 3.02 GAA and .899 SV%. It has been a very difficult start to the season for the Maple Leafs, but it looks as if head coach Mike Babcock will use Bernier as a clear-cut No. 1 starter. This will be his sixth start in seven games.
