
Holtby was outstanding all season-long. Holtbeast was first in the NHL in games played (73) and saves (1,887), second in Wins (41), fifth in GAA (2.22) and seventh in SV% (.923). In his four starts against the Islanders, Holtby was 2-0-2 with a 2.62 GAA and .918 SV%.
Chara said that his PCL is permanently torn, but it is something that he won’t need surgery on. His knee is stabilized and healed, but it will be something that he will need to play through for the remainder of his career. It was obvious that Chara was slowed this season and now you know why.
It looks like the Flames will go into the playoffs with Jonas Hiller as their number-1 and Joni Ortio as his backup because Ramo does not appear to be close to returning to the lineup.
Bouma missed the final two games of the regular season and missed Monday’s practice as well. His absence suggests that he won’t be available for game 1, but the Flames have an abundance of young forwards on the roster right now, so they’ll have no problem putting a quality product on the ice.
Giordano skated on his own on Monday and he is not close to returning, but if the Flames make a run in the playoffs, he did not rule out a possible return in a later round.
Despite missing Monday’s practice, head coach Paul Maurice called the chance of Perreault playing in game 1 “substantial.” Perreault missed the season finale, but will be a key to the Jets playoff success. He had 18 goals and 23 assists in 62 games this season.
Franson was held out of the season finale and missed Monday’s practice, which clouds his availability for Game 1 on Wednesday. He will look to get back on the ice on Tuesday.
Kinkaid, 25, was 6-5-4 with a 2.59 GAA and .915 SV% in his rookie season. He signs a two-year, one-way deal that will see him serve as Cory Schneider’s back-up through the 2016-17 season.
Kane was a full participant in Monday’s practice and coach Quenneville seems positive about the possibility of Kane being ready for Game 1. Monitor his status again on Tuesday.
Hemsky had a disappointing season, scoring just 11 goals with 21 assists (32 points) in 76 games. He is expected to rehab for about four month so he should be ready for training camp in September.
Benn had a crazy four-point season finale and five goals and five assists in his last three games to win the Art Ross Trophy this season. He played all 82 games, but will go under the knife after the Stars were eliminated from the playoffs. Benn is expected to be ready for training camp.
Abdelkader skated on Monday, but still needs to be cleared by the Red Wings medical staff in order to be ready for game 1. He is progressing well and will do his best to be ready for Thursday.
Pacioretty is still not cleared for contact, but is hoping to be cleared for Tuesday. He is the Habs leading scorer and seems to be progressing well. Continue to monitor his status prior to game 1.
Mrazek posted a 35-save shutout in the Red Wings 2-0 win over the Hurricanes in the season finale. The shutout put a stamp on Mrazek being the game 1 starter vs. the Lightning. He went 16-9-2 with a 2.38 GAA and .918 SV% with the Red Wings this season. He was pulled in his first start against Tampa Bay, but posted a 23-save shutout in his second.
Garrison missed the final six games of the regular season and was not available for practice on Monday morning. Garrison is expected to miss at least the first two games of the playoffs, but could be ready next week.
Sustr missed the final six games of the regular season but was in practice on Monday and he is hopeful that he will return to the lineup in Game 1. He skated as an extra this morning, which is not a good sign, but he has two more days to get ready.
