Benn has been recovering from surgery to repair a core muscle injury that he had on July 14th. Benn’s original recovery time was six weeks, but he is just two days shy of 12 weeks since the surgery. Benn has been skating in training camp and Tuesday will be his preseason debut, so if all goes well he should be ready for the Stars’ season opener.

Kronwall had been limited to skating on his own throughout the start of training camp, but joined the Red Wings for their morning skate on Tuesday. Kronwall was forced to drop out of the World Cup of Hockey because of the knee injury and his availability for the Red Wings’ season opener remains up in the air. If he can’t go in Game No.1, look for Xavier Ouellet or Ryan Sproul to fill-in for him.

The Coyotes and Rieder have been negotiating for months and for awhile it looked as if Rieder was headed to the KHL. Rieder is coming off of a 37-point (14G / 23A) in 82 games last year and figures to be a key member of the Coyotes’ young top-6 in 2016-17. He is worth a late-round flier in drafts this October.

Boyle, 40, enjoyed a 17-year career that he split between the Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning, San Jose Sharks and with the New York Rangers for the last two seasons. Boyle recorded 605 career points (163G / 442A) in 1093 NHL games and won a Stanley Cup with the Lightning in 2004.

Andersen was injured at the World Cup of Hockey, but was a full participant in Monday’s practice and will make his first start with his new team in Tuesday’s exhibition game in Saskatoon. Andersen is coming off of a 22-win season with a 2.30 GAA and .919 SV% with the Ducks and should be in line for 55-go-60 starts in Toronto.

Jackman, 35, appeared in 876 career NHL regular season games and another 53 postseason games during his 14-year career. Jackman spent his first 13 seasons with the Blues before playing last year in Nashville. He picked up a career 186 points (29G / 157A) over his career.

Seidenberg spent the last six and a half years in Boston before he was bought out this summer. Seidenberg had just 12 points (1G / 11A) in 61 games last season and hasn’t topped 30 points since 2010-11. He shouldn’t be on your fantasy radar, but gives the Islanders some added depth on the blueline.

Seguin has been held off of the ice at the start of training camp due to a hairline fracture on his heel. The Stars season doesn’t start for another 13 days, so if he starts skating early next week, Seguin could be ready for the season opener vs. Anaheim.

Janmark is reportedly dealing with Osteochondritis dissecans and will undergo surgery on Friday afternoon. The Stars have been ravaged by injuries in training camp and this is a big loss for them. Janmark was expected to play an expanded role early in the season because Cody Eakin is currently sidelined with a knee injury of his own. Janmark may miss the entire season.

This is a tough start to the 2016-17 season for Schwartz, who was limited to 33 regular season games last year due to a foot injury he suffered in October. We’re still two weeks away from the start of the season, so Schwartz should only miss the first 8-10 games.

Quincey has spent the last four and a half seasons with the Red Wings, never topping 18 points (3G / 15A) in a single season. Quincey should file in on the Devils’ third pairing and provides them with some extra blueline depth.

Gaborik was representing Slovakia as a part of Team Europe in the World Cup of Hockey. Gaborik has missed a total of 82 games over the last three seasons and will miss the next eight weeks, which includes six weeks of the regular season.

Callahan underwent offseason hip surgery and is expected to miss all of October. With Callahan out, expect Cedric Paquette to play a more significant role and for Erik Condra to see regular playing time on the fourth line.

Marchand, 28, is coming off of a career-high 37 goals and 60 points. The Canadian-born winger has scored 20-plus goals in every full 82-game season that he has played in and is in a great spot on Patrice Bergeron’s wing out in Boston. He has had a very strong showing in the World Cup of Hockey which shows last year may not be a fluke.

Grabovski failed his physical last week and his movement to injured reserve this morning enforces that he won’t be ready for the start of the regular season. With Grabovski out, it leaves the door open for an Islanders’ prospect like Mathew Barzal to crack the opening night roster.

Schmidt suffered a lower-body injury on Sunday and was held out of a scrimmage on Monday. Schmidt is day-to-day, but doesn’t appear to be in any danger of missing any regular season time.

MacArthur was hit from behind by Patrick Sieloff during a scrimmage at Senators’ training camp. A concussion limited MacArthur to just four games last year and he was finally getting back to health, but this latest concussion not only puts the veteran winger’s season in jeopardy but his career.

Stone suffered a concussion during the Senators’ practice on Friday and will be held off of the ice until he is symptom free. Stone is coming off of a 23-goal, 38-assist (61 points) season and with two weeks left until the start of the regular season, he could still be ready for the season opener.
