NHL Hockey Player News

Raymond (upper-body) is expected to play on Tuesday.

Raymond has been sidelined by an upper-body injury since October 25th, but it looks like he will be back in tomorrow vs. the Maple Leafs. Raymond is expected to skate on a line with Markus Granlund and Paul Byron in his return to the lineup.

Mason Raymond
Letang (groin) is unlikely to play on Monday.

Letang was on the ice for the Penguins’ morning skate on Monday, but did not take part in line rushes and was not very involved in drills. It looks like Letang will miss a fifth straight game, but being on the ice for the morning skate, is a good sign that he should be back this week.

Kris Letang
Schneider is expected to get the nod for the Devils on Monday.

Schneider allowed three goals on 28 shots in the Devils loss to the Capitals on Saturday. That makes five losses in Schneider’s last six starts, while posting a 2.51 GAA and .916 SV%. It hasn’t been a pretty season for Schneider, who will take on the Hurricanes, who are in the second game of a back-to-back. Schneider has gone 7-8-0 with a 2.71 GAA and .913 SV% on the road.

Cory Schneider
Steen (lower-body) is not expected to play on Monday.

Steen, who missed Saturday’s game on Long Island, did not take part in the Blues morning skate, which suggests that he will miss a second straight game. Steen’s injury is not believed to be serious, so consider him day-to-day.

Alex Steen
Gunnarsson (head) is not expected to play on Monday.

Gunnarsson took a pretty fierce elbow to the head in the Blues win vs. the Islanders on Saturday. He left the game and did not return. There was no word no whether the 28-year-old suffered a concussion, but his absence at the Blues morning skate suggests he will miss tonight’s game—Ian Cole will return to the lineup.

Carl Gunnarsson
Kreider (neck) is doubtful for Monday’s game vs. Pittsburgh.

Kreider is experiencing neck spasms that could keep him out of tonight’s game vs. the Penguins. He reportedly took a tough spill in Sunday’s practice after a collision with a teammate. He likely won’t play tonight, which means Tanner Glass will get back into the lineup.

Chris Kreider
Gaborik (upper-body) could be back in the Kings’ lineup on Tuesday.

Gaborik was a full participant in Kings practice on Sunday and could be back tomorrow vs. the Sabres. He has missed the last there games with an upper-body injury, but should be back on a line with Anze Kopitar and Justin Williams on Tuesday. He has eight points (4G / 4A) in 15 games this season.

Marian Gaborik
Ward starts both games of the Hurricanes back-to-back.

Ward allowed three goals on 22 shots in the Hurricanes 3-1 loss to Detroit last night. The win snapped a modest two-game winning streak for Ward, who will start on back-to-back nights for the second time this season. The first time around he stopped 30 shots in a 3-2 win over the Kings. You can feel safe about deploying Ward vs. the Devils.

Cam Ward
The Bruins have sent David Pastrnak back to Providence (AHL).

Pastrnak served as a healthy scratch in the Bruins win over Arizona on Saturday. The 2014 first round pick (25th overall) had one assist in five games during his recall. He heads back to the AHL where he has five goals and 13 assists (18 points) in 18 games.

David Pastrnak
Staal (lower-body) skated for about 20 minutes this morning.

Staal suffered a lower-body injury on Sunday vs. the Red Wings. He was blasted by shot in the foot area and left the game in some discomfort. He took part in the Canes’ optional morning skate, but left after about 20 minutes, putting his availability for tonight in some doubt. Expect an update shortly.

Eric Staal
Havlat (lower-body) is expected to return to the Devils lineup on Monday.

Havlat has missed the last three games with a lower-body injury, but he should play tonight in Carolina. We will know for sure after the Devils morning skate. Havlat has six points (2G / 4A) in 14 games this season.

Martin Havlat
Scrivens starts for the Oilers.

Scrivens allowed three goals on 26 shots in the Oilers OT loss to the Jets on Wednesday. Things just keep getting uglier for Scrivens and the Oilers. That is Scrivens ninth straight loss—over that span he has allowed 34 goals (that’s nearly four goals per game) on 265 shots (.872 SV%). With a glance at those numbers, do you trust him in your fantasy lineup right now?

Ben Scrivens
Stalock bak in goal for the Sharks.

Stalock has dressed recently, but has not played a game since November 8th vs. the Stars. Before getting injured, Stalock was 2-2-1 with a 2.38 GAA and .925 SV%. He has been productive this season and should continue that tonight with a juicy matchup vs. the Oilers. He is available in 80% of Yahoo leagues and makes for a great spot-start tonight.

Alex Stalock
Lack gets the nod for the Canucks.

Lack stopped all 13 shots that he faced after replacing Ryan Miller in the Canucks loss to the Leafs last night. With Miller struggling last night, they will turn to Lack for the start tonight in Ottawa. Lack has gone 2-1-0 with a 2.16 GAA and .929 SV% in three road starts and three relief appearances this season.

Eddie Lack
Ward will face the Red Wings this afternoon.

Ward surrendered a single goal on 33 shots in the Hurricanes win over Nashville on Tuesday. He missed Thursday’s game with a lower-body injury, but will be back in goal today vs. the Red Wings. Detroit is hot right now, having won six of their last seven while outscoring their opponents 30-20.

Cam Ward
Mrazek is the Red Wings confirmed starter.

Mrazek gave up four goals on 25 shots in the Red Wings come from behind win over the Devils on November 28th. It has not been pretty, but Mrazek has won both of his starts this season, however he has posted a 3.36 GAA and .875 SV% in the process. If you need Sunday goalie numbers, this matchup sets up nicely for him.
