This is the first time we have seen it reported that Grabner has skated since having surgery to remove a hernia in early October. He was originally expected to miss 4-6 weeks and this marks the four week point.
Ward stopped 29 of 31 shots in 3-2 win over the Blue Jackets on Friday. Ward extended his winning streak to four games, while allowing just six goals on 107 shots (.944 SV%) over that span. He has reemerged among the NHL’s top goalies as of late and after sitting on Saturday, he will look to make it five in a row tonight vs. the Flames.
The Kings had to play with only five defensemen on Saturday because Robyn Regehr is out with an injury and they do not have enough cap room to recall a defenseman from the AHL. If they sign McBain to a league minimum deal ($550,000) they will have enough cap-room to put him on the roster.
Wilson suffered an undisclosed injury in Saturday’s game and did not return. The Predators did not have an update on Wilson after practice, so consider him questionable for Tuesday’s game against the Oilers.
Crawford stopped 32 of 34 shots in the Blackhawks’ 5-2 win over the Sharks on Sunday. Since returning to the Hawks’ crease just over a week ago, Crawford has posted a losing record (2-3-0), despite registering a 1.83 GAA and .936 SV%. Uncharacteristically Chicago has struggled to score goals through the first month but don’t let that deter you from starting Crawford.
Regehr missed Saturday’s game after suffering an undisclosed injury in practice on Friday. It would be very surprising to see Regehr in the lineup on Tuesday, which would likely mean the Kings will have to go with five defensemen again. However, Jamie McBain is with the team on a professional tryout and should the Kings sign him to a league minimum deal, he would be eligible to play under the salary cap.
Goligoski took a maintenance day on Monday because he has been playing through an injury as of late. Monitor his status during the Stars’ morning skate tomorrow.
Eakin missed the Stars’ last two games with an upper-body injury. He could be ready to return to the lineup on Tuesday, but if not tomorrow, look for Eaking to be back on Thursday in Los Angeles.
There is no word when Tyutin suffered the injury, but it was likely during the Blue Jackets loss to the Lightning on Saturday. With no idea what the injury is, it is impossible to say what might happen, so for now consider him questionable and monitor his status during tomorrow’s morning skate.
Elliott tuned aside 33 of 35 shots that the Predators threw at him in Saturday’s 2-1 loss. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for Elliott, who will make his 10th start of the year on Tuesday. He sits at 5-3-1 on the year and should have no problem making it 6-3-1 with the last place Sabres visiting town.
Bailey is getting close to a return to the Islanders lineup, but it will not happen on Tuesday. He skated with the team on Monday and should travel with the team and play in one or both of the Isles back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday.
Maatta is expected to miss four weeks after undergoing surgery to remove a tumor from his thyroid gland last Tuesday. However, returning to the ice this week, should put him well ahead of that four-week timetable.
Bobrovsky stayed on after practice and took some shots from teammates for the first time since breaking his finger two weeks ago. Bob is expected to make a start later this week.
The Wild return home vs. the Sabres on Thursday, so traveling with the team will allow Spurgeon to practice on Tuesday and could potentially be ready to play on Thursday back in Minnesota.
The Wild return home vs. the Sabres on Thursday, so traveling with the team will allow Parise to practice on Tuesday and could potentially be ready to play on Thursday back in Minnesota.
Neuvirth stopped 49 of 52 shots in the Sabres’ loss to the Oilers on Saturday. He has played very well so far this year, but has been exceptional in his last three starts—Neuvirth has stopped 116 of 122 shots (.951 SV%)…Yep that is an average of 38.7 shots against per game. Expect another onslaught on Tuesday when the Sabres travel to St. Louis.
Ferland has been sidelined since his NHL debut on October 31st. He was placed on IR this morning to make room for the Flames to recall Max Reinhart, who will make his season debut on Monday.
Klingberg, 22, has scored four goals with eight assists (12 points) in 10 games with Texas this season. He as the Stars fifth round selection (131st overall) in 2010, but has yet to make an NHL appearance. This is his first full year in North America, he had 28 points (11G / 17A) in 50 games with Frolunda HC in Sweden last year.
Havlat will miss his ninth straight game with a lower-body injury he suffered on October 21st. He had been practicing lately, so it looked as if he might return, but Jordin Tootoo will replace him tonight in Boston.
