NHL Hockey Player News

Schneider starts on Sunday against the Rangers.

Schneider allowed one goal on 34 shots in the Devils’ shoutout loss to the Sharks on Friday. It was a great outing for Schneider, but this is what you can expect from him all season—great splits, but no wins. This afternoon he will be in tough vs. Henrik Lundqvist and the Rangers. Schneider was 0-1-1 with a 3.42 GAA and .891 SV% vs. New York last year.

Cory Schneider
Lundqvist will start on Sunday vs. New Jersey.

Lundqvist allowed two goals on 31 shots in the Rangers loss to the Canadiens on Thursday. Lundqvist played very well, but he was out duelled by Carey Price, who posted a 25-save shutout. Despite the loss, Lundqvist is still off to a great start to the season and is a must-start this afternoon vs. the Devils—Henrik was 2-0-0 with a 1.00 GAA and .964 SV% against New Jersey last season.

Henrik Lundqvist
Hiller will be in goal on Saturday vs. Edmonton.

Hiller allowed four goals on 28 shots in the Flames loss to the Blues on Tuesday. It was a rough outing for Hiller, who has the only Flames win so far this season. With Karri Ramo starting last night, Hiller will be in goal tonight vs. the Oilers. Hiller was 3-0-0 with a 1.99 GAA and .909 SV% against the Oilers last season.

Jonas Hiller
Ward will start again on Saturday.

Ward allowed three goals on 20 shots in the Hurricanes win over the Red Wings last night. The Hurricanes led throughout and Ward was not overly busy so he will go again tonight in Washington. Ward has a 3.06 GAA and .859 SV% through three games, so he should be avoided on a back-to-back vs. Ovechkin and the Caps.

Cam Ward
Helm (shoulder) will return to the Red Wings lineup on Saturday.

Helm missed the first four games of the regular season after separating his shoulder in the first training camp practice. Helm will replace Landon Ferraro in the lineup and is expected to start on the fourth line with Drew Miller and Joakim Andersson. In 2014-15 Helm set career-highs with 15 goals ad 33 points.

Darren Helm
Luongo starts on Saturday vs. the Stars.

Luongo allowed two goals on26 shots in the Panthers’ win over the Sabres on Thursday. Luongo has had a great start to the season, allowing just four goals on 98 shots (.959 SV%) en route to a 2-1-0 record. He is a risky start tonight against a Dallas squad who leads the NHL in scoring (3.75 G/PG).

Roberto Luongo
Johnson gets the nod in goal on Saturday vs. Tampa Bay.

Johnson allowed three goals on 29 shots in the Sabres loss in Florida on Thursday. Without Robin Lehner, the Sabres have struggled. Johnson has an .892 SV% and has allowed a total of nine goals in three starts. Tonight he draws an ugly matchup vs. a powerful Lightning offence.

Chad Johnson
Price will start on Saturday vs. the Red Wings.

Price stopped all 25 shots that he faced in the Canadiens shutout win over the Rangers on Thursday. Price has won all four of his starts while posting a 1.25 GAA, .957 SV% and one shutout. Tonight he will face a Red Wings team who is averaging the fourth most goals in the NHL (3.50 G/PG).

Carey Price
The Blackhawks recalled Vince Hinostroza from Rockford (AHL) on Friday.

Hinostroza, 21, was a sixth round pick (169th overall) in 2012. The 5-foot-9, 180 lbs. forward had 44 points (11G / 33A) in 42 games at the University of Notre Dame last year, before moving to the AHL. In seven career games for Rockford, he totalled three assists. He will make his NHL debut tonight vs. Columbus.

Vinnie Hinostroza
Crawford gets the nod on Saturday vs. the Blue Jackets.

Crawford allowed three goals on 29 shots to the Flyers on Wednesday. Scott Darling started on Thursday, so they will go back to Crawford tonight vs. Columbus. Crawford is 1-2-0 with a 2.67 GAA and .913 SV% in three starts, but draws a great matchup tonight. Columbus is averaging 2.40 goals per game, but are giving up an insane 5.20 per game.

Corey Crawford
DeKeyser (foot) will make his season debut on Saturday vs. Montreal.

DeKeyser missed the first four games of the season with a strained ligament in his foot, but he is set to return tonight in Montreal. DeKeyser will replace Brendan Smith, who is out with an undisclosed injury and he will skate on the second pair with Mike Green.

Dan DeKeyser
Scuderi will get back into the Penguins lineup on Saturday.

Scuderi was a healthy scratch in the Penguins win over the Senators on Thursday. In his first three games of the season, the Penguins lost each of them while scoring no points and posting a minus-1 rating. He will replace Adam Clendening.

Rob Scuderi
Hedman (upper-body) will not play on Saturday vs. Buffalo.

Hedman suffered an injury on Friday and it will keep him out of the Lightning lineup tonight vs. Buffalo. He went through concussion protocol following the hit that injured him, so he could be dealing with concussion symptoms, but he is not expected to miss an extended period of time. With Hedman out, Slater Koekkek has been recalled and will make his season debut.

Victor Hedman
Hutton will make his first start of the season on Saturday.

Pekka Rinne started the first four games of the season, but the Predators will turn to Hutton tonight vs. the Senators. Hutton had a decent season in 2014-15, going 6-7-4 with a 2.61 GAA and .902 SV%. He will face an Ottawa team that has averaged 3.00 goals per game through their first five games.

Carter Hutton
Fleury will start in goal on Saturday vs. the Maple Leafs.

Fleury stopped all 22 shots that he faced in the Penguins’ shutout win over the Senators on Thursday. It was Fleury’s first win of the season and the 39th shutout of his career. For some reason the Penguins have struggled mightily to score this season, but that could change tonight vs. a Maple Leafs team that is giving up 3.50 goals per game.
