NHL Hockey Player News

Stalock starts for the Sharks.

Stalock allowed one goal on 20 shots in a win over the Stars on Feb. 5. He is 8-4-0 with a 1.67 GAA and .938 SV% on the season. He has outplayed Antti Niemi recently and continues to challenge him for starts. He has more value than most other backups in the NHL at this time.

Alex Stalock
Bernier gets the nod for the Maple Leafs.

Bernier stopped 32 of 33 shots in a win over the Canucks before the break. He won five of his last six starts heading into the break and hopes to pick-up where he left off tonight vs. the Islanders. In two starts vs. the Isles this season, Bernier is 1-1-0 with a 3.03 GAA and .902 SV%, however this time around there will be no John Tavares.

Jonathan Bernier
Bobrovsky starts for the Blue Jackets.

Bobrovsky stopped 44 of 47 shots in a loss to the Sharks in his final game before the Olympics. In Sochi, Bob allowed two goals on 55 shots (.964 SV%) while going 1-0-1. Bobrovsky stopped 24 of 25 shots in a 4-1 win in his only other start vs. the Devils this season.

Sergei Bobrovsky
Last #Pens players on the ice for morning skate: Brian Gibbons, Simon Despres, Craig Adams, Olli Maatta, and Jeff Zatkoff.

Fleury allowed three goals on 41 shots in a loss to the Rangers in his last start before the Olympics. Fleury leads the NHL in wins with 31 and carries a solid 2.23 GAA and .919 SV%. He is one of the best and most consistent fantasy netminders you are going to find. He has gone 1-1-0 with a 2.02 GAA and .925 SV% against the Habs this season.

Marc-Andre Fleury
Steve Mason between the pipes.

Mason stopped 38 of 39 shots in a win over the Avalanche in his third consecutive win prior to the Olympic break. After struggling for three and a half seasons in Columbus, Mason has enjoyed success in his first full season with the Flyers. Mason sits at 23-14-5 with a 2.49 GAA and .918 SV% on the season. Mason defeated the Sharks 5-2 on Feb. 3.

Steve Mason
Thomas starts for the Panthers.

Thomas was yanked after allowing four goals on 14 shots in a loss to the Hurricanes in his final start before the break. Thomas has struggled allowing more than three goals in 10 of his last 12 games. Thomas enters play at 8-7-1 with a 2.44 GAA and .923 SV% at home this season.

Nabokov in goal for #Isles.

Nabokov allowed three goals on 25 shots in a loss to the Avalanche in his final start before the break. He managed to win one game in five attempts after returning from a leg injury. Despite losing four of five, Nabby posted a 2.16 GAA and .921 SV%. With John Tavares out for the remainder of the season and Thomas Vanek likely on his way out, Nabokov's value heading forward appears to be rather slim.

The Wild have recalled John Curry from Iowa (AHL).

Curry has been recalled as insurance incase the banged up Niklas Backstrom is unable to dress on Thursday. Curry is 7-5-2 with 2.08 GAA and .935 SV% with Iowa this season.

John Curry
The Wild have placed Marco Scandella on injured reserve and recalled goaltender John Curry (AHL).

Scandella missed the last two games after suffering a gruesome looking knee injury on Feb. 4 vs. Tampa Bay. He was lucky he did not suffer a more serious injury, but is not expected to miss too much time. Consider him questionable for Friday vs. Vancouver.

Marco Scandella
The Wild have placed Jason Zucker on injured reserve and recalled Stephane Veilleux from Iowa (AHL).

Zucker missed the most recent Wild game with a lower-body injury. His placement on IR allowed the Wild to recall Veilleux for forward depth. He is able to play as soon as he is healthy with his placement being retroactive to Feb. 6.

Jason Zucker
Smith expected to start for the Coyotes.

Smith did not get a chance to play for Team Canada behind Carey Price and Roberto Luongo, but he did play very well with Phoenix before heading overseas. He won two of four starts while posting a 1.27 GAA, .960 SV% and one shutout. Tonight he will get a shot against a Jets team who have been great under new head coach Paul Maurice.

Mike Smith
Kuemper likely to make his 13th consecutive start on Thursday.

Kuemper allowed two goals on 18 shots in a win over the Predators in the Wild's last game before the Olympic break. He has seven of his 12 consecutive starts and holds a 2.46 GAA and .917 SV% in 15 games this season. On Thursday he will face an Oilers team he beat 4-1 on Jan. 16.

Darcy Kuemper
Talbot might miss the Avs' first game back from the Olympic break to be with his pregnant fiancee, who is past her due date.

Talbot participated in the morning skate, but if his fiancee goes into labor, Roy will complete his 20-man lineup with an extra defenseman, Cory Sarich, who hasn't played since Jan. 11 because of a back injury.

Max Talbot
Jones was the first goalie off of the ice at the Kings morning skate.

With Jonathan Quick returning to Kings practice today, it is no surprise that it looks like Jones will get the start tonight in Colorado. Jones allowed one goal on 15 shots after replacing Quick in a loss to the Penguins on Jan. 30. In his first start vs. the Avs he stopped 23 of 25 shots in a 3-2 shootout win.

Martin Jones
Granlund will make his NHL debut on Thursday.

Granlund was the Flames second round pick (45th overall) in 2011. He has 23 goals and 21 assists (44 points) in 50 games with Abbotsford (AHL) in his first North American season. Granlund is expected to centre the fourth line with Paul Byron and Westgarth on his wings.
