The Washington Capitals have recalled defenseman Julien Brouillette from Hershey (AHL).

Brouillette played in 29 games with Hershey this season, registering 14 points (9G / 5A) and 10 penalty minutes. The 5’11”, 196-pound defenseman scored a power-play goal on Sunday against Norfolk and ranks first among Bears defensemen in goals this season.

Kane will miss Friday's game to attend his grandfather's funeral.

Kane found out about his grandfather Donald's death just before the Blackhawks' 5-3 victory over the Kings that night. He went on to record two goals and an assist, pointing to the sky after his first goal of the night to honor his grandfather. Friday is the Blackhawks last game before the Olympic break, so up next for Kane is Sochi with Team USA. Look for him to be back on the ice with the Blackhawks on February 27 in New York.

Patrick Kane
Halak gets the start on Thursday.

Halak gave up four goals on 31 shots in a 5-4 shootout loss to the Senators on Tuesday. After losing two in row, Halak gets a tough matchup tonight when he faces the Bruins. In his first outing vs. the B's he stopped 29 of 31 shots in 3-2 shootout win.

Jaroslav Halak
Howard gets the nod vs. the Panthers.

Howard stopped all 16 shots that he faced after replacing Jonas Gustavasson, who left after the first because of dizziness on Monday. Howard sits at 11-12-9 with a 2.70 GAA and .913 SV% this season and draws a strong matchup against a Panthers team who have lost four of six.

Jimmy Howard
Lehtonen leads the Stars onto the ice.

Lehtonen allowed a single goal on 28 shots in a win over the Coyotes last night. He draws the back-to-back start as he looks for his 22nd win of the season. He will take on a Sharks team who have lost four of five, but still can not be taken lightly.

Kari Lehtonen
Lehtonen is likely to make back-to-back starts.

Lehtonen allowed a single goal on 28 shots in a win over the Coyotes last night. Dan Ellis was the only netminder on the ice at this morning's optional which usually indicates that Lehtonen would draw the start. The late start will force us to wait until 10:00 p.m. EST warmups to confirm the Stars starter.

Stamkos will not be able to participate in the 2014 Winter Olympic Games. Stamkos underwent a CT Scan (which offers a three-dimensional view of the bone) this afternoon and then met with Lightning Medical Director Ira Gutentag, who was unable to clear Stamkos for game participation at this time. Rehabilitation with the Lightning training staff will continue and he will be reevaluated in 2-3 weeks.

Stamkos fractured his right tibia on November 11 in a game against the Boston Bruins and he subsequently had surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital to place a titanium rod in the tibia. He has missed 39 regular season games to this point. "Today is obviously very disappointing for me," Stamkos said. "I honestly believe that we did everything possible in order to have my injured leg ready in time for the Olympics, but I realize you can't force healing.

Steven Stamkos
Hiller starts in goal for the Ducks.

Hiller allowed one goal on 26 shots in a 2-0 loss to the Stars on Saturday. He has now lost four of his last five starts while allowed 11 goals on 140 shots (.921 SV%). He will be in tough tonight wit the Blackhawks in town.

Jonas Hiller
Berra gets a second consecutive start on Thursday.

Berra stopped 25 of 26 shots in a tough-luck 2-0 loss to the Canadiens on Tuesday. It was a strong performance for the Swiss Olympian, but the Flames O could not find a way past Carey Price. Berra's 3.11 GAA and .894 SV% should be a reason to keep him on the waiver wire.

Reto Berra
Stalock in goal tonight for the Sharks.

Stalock stopped four of five shots after replacing Antti Niemi on Monday. In his four most recent starts he has two wins (both shutouts) with a 1.18 GAA and .949 SV%. Tonight he will face a Stars team who have won five of seven.

Alex Stalock
Scrivens starts on Thursday.

Scrivens gave up four goals on 41 shots in a 4-0 loss to the Bruins on Monday. In 15 starts with the Kings, Scrivens saw an average of 29.2 shots per game, in Edmonton he has faced 39 per game in his first five starts. It doesn't look like the Oilers are going to ratchet down their D anytime soon, so expect Scrivens to continue to see a ton of rubber, making him a risk play on most nights.

Ben Scrivens
The Bruins recently recalled David Warsofsky from Providence (AHL).

Warsofsky has one goal in four games with the Bruins this season. While with Providence he has three goals and 26 assists (29 points) in 42 games. Warsofsky will slide into the lineup for the Bruins final two games before the Olympic break as captain Zdeno Chara heads to Sochi early. Warsofsky was in Chara's spot on the Bruins top power-play unit in practice this morning. He could be a useful add in deep leagues for the rest of this week.

David Warsofsky
Chara will not be available for the next two games as he heads to serve as the flag bearer for Slovakia at the opening ceremony.

Claude Julien’s bunch will have to find a way to make up for the 25:57 average ice time that Chara logs every night. The B’s recently recalled David Warsofsky from Providence, and he’ll be back in the lineup for the next two games. He’s obviously not being called upon to replace Chara, as every player will need to chip in and pick up his game.
