NHL Hockey Player News

Lundqvist starts his ninth start in the last 10 games.

Lundqvist gave up two goals on 25 shots in a 2-1 loss to the Lightning on Tuesday. The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for 'King Henrik', but it was still a strain outing for the Swede. Tonight he will start vs. the Red Wings at MSG. He is 7-10-3 with a 2.44 GAA and .913 SV% at home this season.

Henrik Lundqvist
Bishop gets his 34th start of the season tonight.

Bishop was great in his return to the Lightning crease on Tuesday - he stopped 33 of 34 shots in a 2-1 win over the Rangers. It was Bishop's 23 win of the season which has him ranked third in the NHL, he is also 2nd in GAA (1.83) and tops in SV% (.937). The first time he faced the Islanders he stopped 32 of 34 shots in a 3-2 shootout win.

Ben Bishop
Thomas will make his seventh straight start tonight.

Thomas surrendered two goals on 33 shots in a 4-2 win against the Islanders on Tuesday. Thomas is 3-1-2 with a 1.90 GAA and .940 SV% in his last six starts but draws a difficult matchup tonight. The Sharks sit fifth in the NHL with 64 points and have the fifth best offence with 3.02 goals per game.

Mason starts against the Predators.

Mason allowed three goals on 19 shots in a 4-3 win over the Sabres on Tuesday. After being yanked in his previous start Mason didn't have the best outing, but was able to walk away with the W. In his first start against the Predators he allowed two goals on 36 shots in a 3-2 shootout win.

Steve Mason
Neal (upper-body) is not on the ice for the Penguins pre-game warmup.

It looks like Neal will not play tonight vs. the Capitals and Pierre Letourneau-Leblond will draw into the lineup. This is a little surprising because Neal made it sound like he was going to play this morning. Consider him day-to-day.

James Neal
Miller leads the Sabres onto the ice for warmups, he starts as expected.

Miller stopped 28 of 29 shots in a shootout win over the Capitals on Sunday. Miller made a number of spectacular saves, including a save of the year candidate when he robbed Mikhail Grabovski when reached across the net, stopping the puck from entering the empty cage with his twig. Miller has been lights-out lately and faces a team tonight that he has had his most success against this season. Miller is 2-0-1 with a 1.95 GAA and .939 SV% vs the Maple Leafs.

Ryan Miller
Reimer leads the Leafs onto the ice for warmups he will face the Sabres.

Reimer allowed six goals on 36 shots in a loss to the Hurricanes on Thursday. He will face the Sabres for the second time this season. In the first meeting he allowed two goals on 35 shots in a 4-2 win.

James Reimer
Schneider starts on Thursday.

Schneider allowed two goals on 25 shots in a shootout loss to the Maple Leafs on Sunday. Schneider has been stingy lately, but still isn't getting a lot goal support. He has allowed only six goals in his last five starts, but the Devils have only scored eight in that span. On Thursday he will take on the Avalanche on the road, on a busy night in the NHL there should be safer options.

Cory Schneider
The Canucks have recalled Kellan Lain from Utica (AHL).

Lain is a 24-year-old, undrafted forward who stands in at 6-foot-6, 210 pounds. Lain brings some serious size to the Canucks lineup, but not much in the way of offence. He is not expected to have any fantasy impact during his stint with the big club. He has collected 11 points (7G / 4A) in 35 games with Utica this season.

Stafford (upper-body) will play tonight; Marcus Foligno will come out of the lineup with an injury.

Stafford missed the last six games with an upper-body ailment. He will enter the lineup tonight vs. the Maple Leafs and likely skate with Brian Flynn and Ville Leino.

Drew Stafford
The Kings have recalled Martin Jones from Manchester (AHL).

The Kings traded Ben Scrivens to the Edmonton Oilers today so Jones has been recalled and will be Jonathan Quick's backup. Jones was excellent while Quick was on the shelf with a groin injury, but he likely won't see to much action behind Quick. The Kings have two back-to-back's left in January, so he should see at least two starts in the next eight games.

Martin Jones
The Oilers have acquired goaltender Ben Scrivens from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for a third-round pick.

The Oilers shipped Devan Dubnyk out of town this afternoon and brought in Scrivens to compete with Ilya Bryzgalov for the starting gig. He is 7-5-4 with a 1.97 GAA and .931 SV% this season, but will find it a lot harder to play behind the Oilers than the Kings. However this helps his fantasy value as he could potentially start 25 games the remainder of the season if he can surpass Bryzgalov as the number-1.
