NHL Hockey Player News

Fleury was first goalie off the ice. Expecting him to start tonight for Penguins.

Fleury allowed three goals on 21 shots in a loss to the Devils on Saturday. Fleury has lost four of his last five starts with a 2.63 GAA and .889 SV%. He will take on a Ducks team who is also on a losing skid, he should make for a solid start.

Marc-Andre Fleury
Semin (upper-body) is out tonight.

Semin left Saturday's game after playing just 11:55 and did not return. Semin will be re-evaluated this afternoon and the nature and severity of the injury should be released. Consider him day-to-day and questionable for Thursday.

Alexander Semin
Ward (lower-body) will start tonight.

Ward missed the last 10 games after being injured on October 24. He has been skating for the last week, but finally feels ready to make his first start in almost a month. Before getting injured, Ward was 2-2-3 with a 2.81 GAA and .912 SV%. He will look to play well over the next two months as he strives to make Team Canada's Olympic roster.

Cam Ward
Bennett has been moved to the top-line with Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz in Penguins practice.

Bennett has not registered a point in four games since returning from a lower-body injury. He has two assists in nine total games this season. Skating with Crosby and Kunitz should help Bennett get things going offensively.

Beau Bennett
Peters off the ice first; expected to start.

Peters gave up three goals on 31 shots in Saturday's 4-2 loss to St. Louis. It was the first time in six starts that Peters gave up more than two goals. He has been a workhorse with Cam Ward on the shelf, but with his return just around the corner this could be the end of Peter's fantasy relevance.

Justin Peters
Skinner (upper-body) is at the Hurricanes morning skate and appears to be good-to-go tonight.

Skinner has been out since October 24 and missed the last 10 games with an upper-body injury. In 10 games before getting hurt, Skinner was the Hurricanes best offensive weapon. He has three goals and nine points, which still ranks third on the team (Eric Staal leads with 11) despite skating in 10 fewer games. We will get confirmation following the morning skate.

Jeff Skinner
Bozak (hamstring) skated prior to Maple Leafs practice.

Bozak continues to work his way back from a hamstring injury that has kept him out since October 25. Bozak is expected to join the Leafs at practice at some point this week, but he is still probably a week away from returning to the lineup.

Tyler Bozak
The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forward Brian Gibbons from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL).

Gibbons, 25, has led the way offensively for WBS this season, posting team-high totals with 15 assists and 22 points in 15 games played. His 15 assists lead the AHL, while his 22 points rank third in the league. He could make his NHL debut tonight vs. Anaheim.

Brian Gibbons
The Islanders have recalled Anders Nilsson from Bridgeport (AHL).

Nilsson, 23, was the 62nd overall pick in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. In 11 appearances with Bridgeport this season, Nilsson is 3-6-1 with a 3.57 GAA and .880 SV%. Nilsson does not figure to see too much action, Kevin Poulin is expected to make the vast majority of the Isles starts with Evgeni Nabokov on IR.

Anders Nilsson
The Islanders have place Nabokov () on IR retroactive to November 16.

Nabokov was injured on the first shot of the game on Saturday. Darren Helm whistled a wrester past Nabby on a breakaway and he went down, left the game and did not return. His designation to IR allows the Islanders to recall Anders Nilsson from Birdgeport (AHL).

Evgeni Nabokov
Duchene (oblique) will be out one week.

Duchene suffered the injury in the third period of Saturday's game with Florida. Oblique injuries can be serious, so a one-week prognosis constitutes good news for the Avs. "We will hope it's not more than that, but (Duchene) said he would need about a week," Patrick Roy said. Duchene has been the Avs' best player this season and a strong candidate to make the Canadian Olympic team in Sochi. Nathan MacKinnon is likely to move to center on a top-six line, though that won't be confirmed until Monday.

Matt Duchene
The Capitals have recalled Dmitry Orlov from Hershey (AHL).

Orlov has been recalled with Mike Green (lower-body) landing on IR. Orlov has recorded three goals and 20 points in 65 games over three seasons with the Capitals. He has yet to dress for Washington this season, but has two goals and eight points in eight games with Hershey (AHL).
