Dubnyk starts for the Oilers.

Dubnyk missed the Oilers last three games with an ankle injury, but will be back in the cage tonight vs. Florida. He had a tough October going 2-5-1 with a 4.01 GAA and .878 SV%. Hopefully November is better to Dubnyk, who starts the month with an easy matchup vs. the Panthers.

For the first time since he was hurt on Oct. 19 against Calgary, Sharks forward Brent Burns was seen on the ice in full hockey pads, skating around the rink by himself at the team's practice facility on Monday morning. Previously, Burns was in a just a helmet.

The Sharks have been vague when it comes to the details of Burns’ injury. “Getting closer, from what I’ve been told,” Todd McLellan said on Monday. “He’s welcome back any time, obviously. We’d love to have him back with our team. From my understanding, he’s getting closer.” Could Burns return to practice this week? "I don’t have that. He and the trainers and the doctors know when that will happen,” McLellan said.

The Blues have placed LW Brenden Morrow on injured reserve with an upper-body injury.

Morrow was already ruled out for tomorrow's contest with the Canadiens, but if this IR move is retroactive to last Wednesday (he was injured in practice) then he would be eligible to return on Thursday vs. Calgary.

The Blue Jackets have recalled F Sean Collins from AHL Springfield

Collins has two goals and four assists in nine games with Springfield. He failed to register a point in his only appearance with the Blue Jackets this season.

Merrill, who was making his NHL debut, was tripped into the boards by Torrey Mitchell of the Wild and suffered facial lacerations and a head injury on Sunday. He flew back to New Jersey with the Devils and it is very possible that he suffered a concussion.

"He's seeing a neurologist today to see exactly where he's at," general manager Lou Lamoriello said. "He came back with us. He was certainly okay to travel. It is not something that is interpreted immediately as anything long term, but he's got to be 100 percent right. He got quite a jolt there and quite a cut." There are no plans to send Merrill back to Albany (AHL) while he is still ailing.

Brent Burns skated solo again this morning.

Burns was wearing pads for the first time today, but he continues to skate alone and not with the Sharks. The fact that he didn't skate with his teammates today suggests he won't be in the lineup tomorrow or this week. If you are in a weekly league I think it would be wise to keep Burns on the bench again this week.

The Avalanche have reassigned Tyson Barrie to the AHL.

Patrick Roy was not impressed with Barrie's start to the season and had him as a healthy scratch for eight of the Avs' last nine games. He will head to Lake Erie (AHL) where he will likely see a ton of ice-time which will help him develop a lot better than sitting on a nightly basis.

Tyson Barrie
Alex Tanguay (knee) will be out for at least two weeks and will then be reevaluated.

Tanguay left Saturday's game and did not return and will now miss at least two weeks. This is a tough break for the Avs' veteran who has nine points (3G / 6A) in 13 games. Fortunately for Colorado they will be getting Jamie McGinn back just as Tanguay leaves the lineup.

Alex Tanguay
Belov (undisclosed) did not practice this morning and won't play Tuesday.

Belov will join Justin Schultz in the press box tomorrow when the Oilers take on the Panthers. With two defenseman out, someone will be called up from Oklahoma City (AHL). Belov has three assists and a minus-5 rating in 15 games.

Schultz (ribs/groin) will miss his second straight game tomorrow.

Schultz missed Saturday's 5-0 loss to the Red Wings and won't be able to go tomorrow vs. Florida. He has one goal and sex assists with a minus-10 rating through 14 games. Monitor his status before Thursday's matchup with Tampa Bay.

Justin Schultz
Smyth (groin) is expected to return to the Oilers lineup tomorrow.

Smyth has missed the last six games after scoring three times and adding an assist in his first eight games. He was skating on Edmonton's second line with Sam Gagner and Nail Yakupov. Monitor the veteran's status tomorrow.

The Phoenix Coyotes have signed free-agent Tyler Gaudet to a three-year entry level contract .

Gaudet, 20, is currently a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League. He has 10 goals and 12 assists in 16 games in his second OHL season. Gaudet is expected to finish out the season with Sault Ste. Marie and then turn pro and join the Portland Pirates (AHL).
