Anton Khudobin was first off the ice this morning; He starts for the Hurricanes.

Khudobin stopped 17 of 18 shots in a 2-1 win over the Flyers on Sunday. Cam Ward has yet to win so the Hurricanes will turn to Khudobin tonight against the Capitals. Facing Alex Ovechkin is never a great matchup. There are better options than Khudobin tonight.

Miller first goalie off the ice at morning skate.

After sitting out two games with a groin injury, Miller will return to cage tonight against the Blue Jackets. He has played well so far posting a 1.53 GAA and .963 SV% in his first two starts. He will look to continue his strong play and get the Sabres their first win this season.

Ryan Miller
Holtby will start tonight vs. Carolina.

Holtby turned aside 19 of 21 shots in a 2-1 loss to Dallas on Saturday. He has had four days off since his last start so he should be well rested as he looks for his first win. He was 3-1-0 with a 1.75 GAA and .952 SV% in four starts against the Hurricanes last season.

Braden Holtby
Sabres head coach Ron Rolston says Miller is ready and available to play Thursday.

"I knew it was pretty minor. I was just being cautious. Jhonas [Enroth] was going to play in Pittsburgh anyways so I just took that opportunity to rest," Miller told the Sabres' website. "It just lingered a little longer and I wanted to make sure I clear up any issues because if you don't take care of it the right way it turns into weeks. Hopefully I get back in the rhythm where I was at and I'll go again."

The Canadiens are on the tail-end of a back-to-back, so Budaj might get the start tonight.

Budaj went went 8-1-1 with a 2.28 GAA and .908 SV% in a backup role last season. He will face the high-octane Oilers offence tonight. Edmonton has scored 11 goals in their first three games.

The Minnesota Wild have recalled goaltender Darcy Kuemper from the Iowa Wild (AHL) with goaltender Niklas Backstrom day-to-day after suffering a knee injury Tuesday in Nashville.

Kuemper appeared in two preseason games with the Wild this year and stopped all 18 shots faced in 47:12 of action. The 23-year-old went 1-2-0 with a 2.08 goals-against-average (GAA) and a .916 save percentage (SV%)in six regular season games (three starts) with Minnesota last season.

Darcy Kuemper
The Tampa Bay Lightning lost some depth up front in Tuesday’s win over Buffalo, as center Tom Pyatt broke his collarbone and will be out indefinitely.

Pyatt, 26, broke the collarbone in the third period of what was his regular season debut. He’d missed the first two games of the year with an upper-body injury. A defensive forward with good checking skills that took plenty of faceoffs, Pyatt has had some success in Tampa Bay, scoring 12 goals and 19 points in 74 games during the 2011-12 campaign.

Quick will start for the Kings.

Quick allowed three goals on 28 shots including a rink-long goal that he drastically misplayed. Starting the season 1-2-0 with a 3.18 GAA and .893 SV% was not what Quick owners were looking for, but do not panic he will be fine. He will likely go head-to-head with Craig Anderson, in what should be a great goaltending battle.

Jonathan Quick
Penguins defenseman Kris Letang, who has missed the first three games of the season because of an apparent knee injury, skated for about 50 minutes before the team practiced at Southpointe today.

Coach Dan Bylsma said Letang will accompany the Penguins to Florida for the two-game trip that begins Friday night in Sunrise, but cautioned against assuming he will be back in the lineup while the Penguins are on the road. “Kris needs to progress back to practice before we’d think about putting him in a game at this point in time,” Bylsma said. “I don’t see him just stepping back into a game situation without a team practice.”

Kris Letang
Crawford starts for the Hawks.

Crawford allowed two goals on 16 shots in Saturday's shootout loss to Tampa Bay. It was a disappointing defeat after Chicago dominated the Lightning all game. He will try and hand the Blues their first loss tonight. Crawford was 3-0-1 with a 1.46 GAA and .946 SV% with one shutout against St. Louis last season.

Corey Crawford
Harding will start tomorrow.

Harding allowed one goal on 20 shots after relieving the injured Niklas Backstrom. He will face the 2-1 Jets, who have been very competitive so far. The Wild have lost every game by just one goal so far, so Harding will look to get them in the win column tomorrow.

Coach Mike Yeo said with great relief in his voice that Niklas Backstrom's injury does not appear serious, and the goalie is listed as day-to-day.

Backstrom strained his right knee when Eric Nystrom barreled into him in the first period of Tuesday's game, causing Backstrom's right leg to strike the goal post. Yeo said Josh Harding will start Thursday's game against Winnipeg at Xcel Energy Center, but Backstrom might be healthy enough to dress as the backup.

Niklas Backstrom
Quick is the default starter unless reported otherwise. Nothing has been reported about Ben Scrivens starting tonight so it is a near certainty that Quick will start.
