The Blue Jackets have alternated goalies in their first two games of the season, a trend that will continue in game three on Monday against the New Jersey Devils, with Greaves tending the twine. Greaves was solid in his only outing this season, saving 30 of 32 shots (.938 SV%) in a 2-1 losing effort to the Nashville Predators. The 24-year-old netminder was excellent in limited action last season, posting a 1.91 GAA and .938 SV% in 11 appearances (7-2-2), and has an opportunity to play his way into a starting role with the Blue Jackets. The 2024-25 Calder trophy winner for the NHL's best rookie has been rewarded with a lucrative eight-year contract extension worth $8.85 million AAV. The 21-year-old defenseman scored an impressive 66 points (6G / 60A) in 82 games with the Canadiens last season. Hutson is off to a slower start to his sophomore season, with only one point (0G / 1A) in his first three games, but is likely due for another productive season quarterbacking Montreal's top powerplay unit.

Ritchie was acquired before last season's trade deadline as part of a deal that sent Brock Nelson to the Colorado Avalanche. The 20-year-old Ritchie has not yet made his regular-season debut with the Islanders and will have to wait a while longer as he is set to begin his 2025-26 campaign in the AHL after returning from a lower-body injury.
