The Dallas Stars are already without defenseman Stephane Robidas for 4-6 months due to a leg fracture, and now it appears they could be without Trevor Daley for a while as well.

The Stars lost Daley early in the second period of Thursday night’s game in Toronto when he and Maple Leafs forward James van Riemsdyk got tangled up while battling for the puck. Daley went down and then slid into the end boards. Daley had to be helped off the ice. He did not return to the game and the Stars said he had a lower body injury. “He’s got an injury that looks like it’s going to be a little bit of time,” said Stars coach Lindy Ruff. “Our people will evaluate it, but I can just tell you that it’s going to be nothing that is going to be short-term.”

Jan Hejda is heading home, to Denver, to see the team doctor about his right knee, coach Patrick Roy said.

Hejda’s first-period collision in the corner didn’t look good, and obviously sending him home to Denver is not a good sign for the big veteran D who is having a real good year. Hejda joins Ryan Wilson as Avalanche D-men on the shelf right now. Expect Cory Sarich to slide back into the lineup tonight and for Colorado to make a roster move.

Jan Hejda
Schneider leaves the ice first; he starts vs. Detroit.

Schneider allowed three goals on 30 shots in a loss to the Canadiens on Wednesday. The loss broke his three-game winning streak, but he will be back in the crease tonight vs. the Red Wings. Detroit brings in a depleted lineup which makes it a juicier matchup for Schneider.

Cory Schneider
Pascal Dupuis retired to the locker room with an unspecified injury shortly after deflecting a Brooks Orpik shot past Niemi 27 seconds into the second period.

The Penguins already were deploying a somewhat diluted lineup, as Evgeni Malkin was held out of the game because of an unspecified injury that has led to him being listed as day-to-day. Dupuis' injury will require further evaluation, according to coach Dan Bylsma. Consider him day-to-day until an official injury report is released.

Pascal Dupuis
Aulie missed the final 7:14 of the second period and did not come out for the third period after suffering what is believed to be a hand injury, though the team reported it as an upper body injury.

That adds to a list that already includes defensemen Radko Gudas (upper body) and Eric Brewer (lower body) as well as Brian Lee, who has missed the entire season with a knee injury. Victor Hedman also left Thursday's game with a lower-body injury. Consider Aulie day-to-day, regardless he is not fantasy relevant when healthy.

Keith Aulie
Cory Schneider in the net the Devils will defend in first and third periods tonight -- usually an indicator of the starting goalie.

Hedman suffered an unspecified lower body injury at some point during the first period and did not come back out for the second.

Thankfully the Lightning had seven defensemen dressed, because they also lost Keith Aulie on Thursday. It is and unfortunate injury for Hedman who had caught fire as of late posting four goals and four assists in his last nine games coming into Thursday. He is considered day-to-day and questionable for Saturday's game vs. Winnipeg.

Victor Hedman
Boychuk who was stretchered off of the ice on Thursday has been released from hospital and been given clearance to travel back to Boston with the team.

Just 4:28 into the first, Boychuk was an unfortunate victim of a hit by Max Pacioretty. The Habs forward was called for cross-checking, but Boychuk laid motionless for several minutes before leaving the game on a stretcher. “Before he was transported to the hospital, he was able to demonstrate movement in all of his extremities," Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli said. While further details haven’t been released regarding Boychuk’s severity (likely a back injury), head coach Claude Julien confirmed that the 6-foot-2 defenseman will travel back with the B's.

Johnny Boychuk
Giguere starts vs. Calgary.

Giguere stopped 27 of 28 shots in a win over the WIld on Friday. It was a nice bounce-back outing after giving up five goals in his previous start. Giguere is clearly the number-2 in Colorado but is always a strong spot-start option as he is currently holding a 1.62 GAA and .949 SV% in seven starts. Giggy should be a strong play tonight after the Avs were walloped yesterday and take on the Flames tonight.

Boychuk has been stretchered off this ice after being hit from behind by Max Pacioretty.

It was not an overly aggressive or reckless hit, but Boychuk went into the boards very awkwardly. It had the looks of a neck injury, but a full injury report should be available after the game. The Bruins are already with Adam McQuaid so Kevan Miller would enter the lineup on Saturday if neither defensemen can play.

Johnny Boychuk
Mazanec goes again for the Predators.

Mazanec gave up three goals on 33 shots in a loss to the Canucks on Tuesday. Despite the loss, Mazanec was fantastic. We have come to expect strong performances out of the young goaltender who now holds a 2.09 GAA and .930 SV% in 12 appearances.

Marek Mazanec
Dubnyk gets the call in goal for the Oilers.

Dubnyk allowed six goals on 33 shots in loss to the Coyotes on Tuesday. Dubnyk allowed a couple of ugly goals, in what was an ugly game overall for the Oilers. He is expected to get the call again tonight with the Colorado Avalanche in town. It is a terrible matchup and one where Dubnyk should be avoided.

Devan Dubnyk
Following an MRI, Rinne will be out at least two more weeks. He is targeting December 20 the begin heavy workouts.

Predators' GM David Polie was encouraged by the MRI results, but the Predators will remain without Rinne until mid-December. The emergence of Marek Mazanec has eased the pain of Rinne's loss, but they would love to get him back in their crease.

Pekka Rinne
Smith gets the nod on Friday.

Smith stopped 31 of 33 shots in a win over the Oilers on Tuesday. He was given Wednesday night off so he should be well rested and good to go on Friday. He draws a tough matchup when the Coyotes travel to Vancouver. Smith is 5-4-2 with a 3.21 GAA and .914 SV% on the road this season.

Mike Smith
Miller leads the Sabres out for warmups; he starts.

Miller stopped 22 of 24 shots in a win over the Maple Leafs last Friday. The win snapped a four-game losing streak, each of his last two wins have come against Toronto. Tonight he goes head-to-head with Henrik Lundqvist as the Sabres welcome the Rangers to Buffalo.

Ryan Miller
Seguin (concussion) has officially been medically cleared and will be in the lineup tonight vs. Toronto.

You might remember the Maple Leafs trading the first round pick (that turned out to be Seguin) another first and a second to the Bruins for Phil Kessel. Since that trade there has been a lot of history between Seguin and the Maple Leafs. On top of that he was born 45 minutes away from Toronto in Brampton, Ontario. Since his four-goal game against Calgary on November 14, Seguin has just one assist in five games. He missed two games with the concussion, but will rejoin Rich Peverly and Jaime Benn on the Stars top line tonight.

Tyler Seguin
Helm's MRI revealed fluid on his shoulder and he will miss both Friday and Saturday's games.

Helm joins Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg as Red WIngs forwards on the shelf. Helm had been on fire scoring six goals and three assists in his last 10 games. Stephen Weiss will shift to centre between Justin Abdelkader and Daniel Alfredsson with Helm out. He will be re-evaluated on Monday.

Darren Helm
Weber (eye) will skate tomorrow with the team and will travel to Washington and New York.

Weber will wear a visor when he returns to action, whether or not that is Saturday in Washington remains to be seen. He will miss his third consecutive game tonight and should be considered questionable for the weekend, but monitor his status closely because if he plays he should be activated in all formats. Weber is tied for the NHL lead in goals by defesemen with seven.
