Nikolai Kulemin skated before the Maple Leafs for the first time since suffering an ankle injury.

Kulemin has missed the Leafs last eight games, but is expected to return at the end of the month or in early November. The Maple Leafs lineup is getting stronger with the return of David Clarkson (suspension) and Kulemin's impending return.

Nikolay Kulemin
Miller starts for the Sabres.

Miller allowed four goals on 26 shots in a loss to the Avalanche on Saturday. It was Miller's worst outing of the season, but he still sits at a respectable 2.72 GAA and a great .926 SV%. He will look to move to 2-6-0 tonight, but it won't be easy with the Bruins in town.

Ryan Miller
Rinne will start for the Predators.

Rinne allowed one goal on 29 shots in a 2-1 win over Montreal on Saturday. He was given Sunday off so he will be well rest for Minnesota tonight. He started vs. the Wild on October 8th- Rinne stopped 32 of 34 shots to record his first win of the season. He's allowed two goals in his last two games, so he has a good chance to go 2-0 vs. Minny.

Pekka Rinne
Luongo will be back between the pipes after resting on Sunday.

Luongo stopped 25 of 28 shots in a shootout loss to the Penguins on Saturday. He is now 4-3-1 with a 2.47 GAA and .910 SV%, but will look to improve on those numbers against the team that drafted him tonight. That might be easier said than done, as the Islanders rank 11th in scoring and possess the fifth best PP in the NHL. That being said the Canucks hold the best PK, so it should be a great matchup.

Roberto Luongo
Chad Johnson, Boston’s backup, is scheduled to start either Wednesday or Thursday. Coach Claude Julien said a final decision hasn’t been made. But Julien mentioned Buffalo as a possibility for Johnson, who has backed up Rask for the first seven games.

I fully expect Johnson to start against Buffalo and for the Bruins to save Tuukka Rask for the much tougher test on Thursday vs. San Jose. If Johnson does start, he would make for a solid spot start on a quiet night in the NHL (2 games).

Chad Johnson
John Erskine is expected to return to the lineup after missing the past four games with an upper-body injury he suffered on Oct. 10 against Carolina.

Capitals head coach Adam Oates is glad to have the rugged defensemen back in the mix but plans on easing him back into game action on the third pairing with Steve Oleksy in Winnipeg.

Pavelec will start in goal for the Jets.

Pavelec allowed three goals on 26 shots in a loss to the Predators on Sunday. During last week's fantasy period he won one of three starts with a 2.61 GAA and .902 SV%. He has shown glimpses of superb play throughout his career, but this year has been disappointing so far.

Ondrej Pavelec
Kronwall (mild concussion) has been cleared to play tomorrow.

A speedy recovery for what was a scary hit. Kronwall will return to the Red Wings blueline tomorrow, but will find himself with a new D-partner with Jonathan Ericsson out. It will likely be Kyle Quincey or Danny DeKeyser. Xavier Ouellet has been reassigned to Grand Rapids (AHL).

Niklas Kronwall
The Coyotes have recalled forward Brandon Yip and assigned forward Tim Kennedy to the Portland Pirates (AHL).

Kennedy played in four games with the Coyotes this season collecting two assists with a plus-two rating. The 27-year-old native of Buffalo, N.Y. has recorded 13 goals and 20 assists (33 points) with 56 penalty minutes (PIM) in 129 career NHL games.

The Coyotes have recalled forward Brandon Yip and assigned forward Tim Kennedy to the Portland (AHL).

Yip has appeared in two games with the Pirates (AHL) this season, collecting two assists and two PIM. The 28-year-old native of Vancouver, B.C. has registered 29 goals and 27 assists (56 points) with 130 PIM in 172 career NHL games.

Kronwall said he's waiting for results if the concussion tests he had this morning but he expects to be cleared for tomorrow.

Kronwall was a full participant in both Monday and Tuesday's practice so it appears as if he will be a go tomorrow vs. Ottawa. Rookie Xavier Ouellet or Brendan Smith are the likely candidates to come out of the lineup.

Niklas Kronwall
Howard will start tomorrow vs. the Senators.

Howard stopped all 27 shots he faced on Monday, but still walked away with the shootout loss. It was his first shutout of the season, but he was matched by Antti Niemi. He has a good matchup vs. an Ottawa team who is giving up close to three goals and game and sports one of the NHL's worst PPs.

Jimmy Howard
John Tortorella had no update as to when Burrows (foot) might begin skating with the team.

Burrows only appeared in the season opener on October 3rd. He removed the protective boot from his foot last week, but doesn't appear very close to returning to the lineup.

What are the latest updates on NHL player suspensions or disciplinary actions?

Already this season we’ve seen the hammer brought down by the NHL Department of Player Safety. Notable suspensions and fines include Ryan Reaves of the Toronto Maple Leafs who was given a five-game suspension for an illegal check to the head against the Edmonton Oilers, and Los Angeles Kings forward Tanner Jeannot who was dealt a three-game suspension, also for an illegal hit to the head.

In the 2023-24 season, there were a total of 14 suspensions and 17 fines issued throughout the NHL. Every season there are several players who have breakout years, establishing themselves as some of the best up-and-coming stars in the league. Additionally, nothing beats a comeback story, and that can be said about surging veterans such as Anze Koipitar of the Los Angeles Kings, and Matt Duchene of the Dallas Stars.
