Boyes has skated for the second consecutive day which is a good sign for the wounded forward. With injuries to Jochen Hecht, Nathan Gerbe and Ville Leino, he should receive elevated playing time.

#Sabres Ryan Miller off first -- no surprise.
In 35 career starts against the Leafs, Miller has a 24-11-0 record with a 2.28 GAA, .928 SV% and four shutouts.
Injury
Dallas Stars forward Tomas Vincour injured his knee in Thursday's 3-2 win over the New York Islanders and will miss Friday's game at New Jersey.
The rookie Vincour scored a goal and three points in his 14-game stint. Expect Toby Petersen or a scratched defender to fill in for him on the fourth line.
According to sources, Casey Wellman suffered a wrist injury Tuesday when he was slashed in Winnipeg. During warmups Wednesday, he tried to grip his stick and was unable to. He was pulled from the lineup, which was the reason he didn’t play against Chicago.
Wellman is the latest Wild forward to go down with an injury. The Brentwood, California native scored two goals and four points through seven games after tearing up the AHL.

Picard will be insurance should Zbynek Michalek not be able to play tonight.

() Dineen confirmed Thursday that the Panthers weren't expecting center Marcel Goc back anytime soon. The Panthers didn't think the concussion he suffered Nov. 15 at Dallas was too serious at the time. He has now already missed a month.
Goc should not be owned in any fantasy hockey league at this point. The German forward has only two goals through 17 games and remains out indefinitely.
Ducks C Saku Koivu remains day-to-day with what is now officially called a groin strain. Questionable for games in CHI, WPG and DAL.
Not good news for Saku Koivu owners. Expect Bobby Ryan to remain on the second line and for rookie Kyle Palmieri to remain in the lineup in the interim.

Galiardi once again fails to stick on the top line and is bumped to a checking line -- where he will be much less effective. He has only four goals and six points this season and has never truly recovered from last year's injuries.

Pretty big promotion for Winnik, who has mostly played on the third line this season. The grinder has four goals and 11 points through 31 games.

In the 2023-24 season, there were a total of 14 suspensions and 17 fines issued throughout the NHL. The longest suspension served was dealt to former-Detroit Red Wing David Perron at six-games after a cross-checking penalty dealt ironically against his current team in the 2024-25 season, the Ottawa Senators. Additionally, Perron was fined $148,437.48 for his actions.
