Chris Pronger is still in Pittsburgh as of this hour, went out there early this morning for appt w/ Dr. Mickey Collins. No update yet.

Pronger remains out indefinitely and far from getting back onto the ice. The team's captain has been sidelined since November 19th and should remain on IR for the time being.

With another game Friday vs Florida Panthers, its likely Leland Irving will be in the nets for one of the 2 contests. Irving is definitely in the picture to one day be the #1 guy. His first NHL start will be closely monitored.

With the Flames hot, it may be a decent idea to stream the former 1st round pick. Check the starting goalies page for a further update.

Lamoriello gave the same response when asked about defenseman Anton Volchenkov, who has missed the last three games with a hand injury. Volchenkov would be eligible to come off injured reserve to play Friday.

No surprise here as the Devils play it safe with their oft-injured shot blocker. Considering his rugged style of play, it only makes sense that he gets games off. He only has fantasy hockey value in leagues with deeper categories.

Anton Volchenkov
Center Travis Zajac skated today in New Jersey after taking Tuesday off and it remains possible that he’ll make his season debut on Friday night. Zajac is recovering from a torn left Achilles tendon and has been practicing with the team for the last week. (The rest of the team did not practice today).

No word on where Zajac will play in the lineup. The Winnipeg native was formerly glued to Zach Parise but could be facing some stiff competition from surging rookie Adam Henrique.

#mnwild activates Marek Zidlicky from IR and assigns Nate Prosser to @Houston_Aeros. Zidlicky has missed last 13 games due to concussion

Zidlicky last played on November 15th but is pretty close to drawing back in. Prior to getting hurt, he scored six assists in 18 games. Expect him to help out the power play.

Nate Prosser
Rutherford said Boucher likely out another couple of months. Said would not look to acquire another backup. "We'll stick with our guys."

The club re-called Justin Peters which is a good indicator that Boucher won't play for a while. You can likely find a better option than an injured, veteran backup on a struggling team.

AV: Ebbett has been cleared to skate and is on his way to join the Canucks in Carolina. Hopeful he will play next week.

Ebbett's return will give the team more options but he won't impact your fantasy hockey team. The undrafted center has a goal and an assist through five games with the Canucks.

What are the latest updates on NHL player suspensions or disciplinary actions?

Already this season we’ve seen the hammer brought down by the NHL Department of Player Safety. Notable suspensions and fines include Ryan Reaves of the Toronto Maple Leafs who was given a five-game suspension for an illegal check to the head against the Edmonton Oilers, and Los Angeles Kings forward Tanner Jeannot who was dealt a three-game suspension, also for an illegal hit to the head.

In the 2023-24 season, there were a total of 14 suspensions and 17 fines issued throughout the NHL. The longest suspension served was dealt to former-Detroit Red Wing David Perron at six-games after a cross-checking penalty dealt ironically against his current team in the 2024-25 season, the Ottawa Senators. Additionally, Perron was fined $148,437.48 for his actions.

How are NHL player performances impacting fantasy hockey?

Some notable fantasy hockey performers that flew under the radar in most drafts this year include Martin Necas (123 ADP) of the Carolina Hurricanes and Kiefer Sherwood of the Vancouver Canucks. Some of the most disappointing players of the fantasy hockey season includes Zach Hyman (28 ADP) of the Edmonton Oilers and Jason Robertson of the Dallas Stars (33 ADP).

Which NHL players are having breakout or comeback seasons?

Every season there are several players who have breakout years, establishing themselves as some of the best up-and-coming stars in the league. In the 2024-25 season early breakout candidates have emerged such as Dylan Strome of the Washington Capitals (on-pace for his first 100-point season) and Ivan Barbashev of the Vegas Golden Knights (on-pace for career-high in points).

Additionally, nothing beats a comeback story, and that can be said about surging veterans such as Anze Koipitar of the Los Angeles Kings, and Matt Duchene of the Dallas Stars.
