“I just wanted a little bit more out of him,” Noel said. “I don’t equate an A game with only shots and only hits. I equate it with performance, like with everybody. So I would’ve liked his performance to be better, but I could’ve missed shifts with a lot of guys.

Kane contributed at both ends of the ice on Sunday but failed to show up on the box score. Last season he scored 19 goals and 43 points through 73 games with the now-defunct Atlanta Thrashers. Expect him to improve on last season's totals.

Jets forward Ben Maxwell, who was out for the last two weeks with an undisclosed injury, was back at practice on Tuesday and took some turns on Mark Scheifele’s line

Maxwell's return could spell the end of Scheifele’s stint with the big club. Over 32 career NHL games, the former 2nd round pick only registered a goal and an assist. Expect him to play a checking line role with the team upon his return.

The defenceman was directly responsible for Montreal’s first two goals in the 5-1 win over Winnipeg. His first-period pass across the middle of the ice was intercepted by Mike Cammalleri and deposited in the net. Oduya then allowed Tomas Plekanec to sneak past him in the second period and put the Habs up 2-0.

Oduya finished the night as a minus-3. His days of fantasy hockey relevance ended when he left New Jersey so don't expect too much from the Stockholm, Sweden native.

"Those are the kinds of things out there that we're expecting," coach Dave Tippett said. "That's how we're going to have to play if we're going to win. We need everybody doing the little things, a little extra in a game.

Ekman-Larsson starts the season on the second defensive pairing, playing alongside Adrian Aucoin. Last season he scored a goal and 11 points through 48 games with the Coyotes. Expect the former 6th overall pick to continue developing in a tight, defensive system.

Defenseman Michal Rozsival, who was hit in the face by the puck during the San Jose game and was placed on injured reserve, returned to the Valley for treatment Monday night. He could be available for Saturday's home opener against the Winnipeg Jets.

Good to hear that Rozsival could return shortly following a tough injury. Last season he scored six goals and 21 points over 65 games split between the Coyotes and New York Rangers. Don't expect too much from him while playing on the bottom pairing.

His thigh is stiff, swollen and sore. He did not skate Tuesday with the team, but did workout and does expect to play against the Flyers.

Sedin expects to play tomorrow mainly because the team needs his production. Last season, he finished with 19 goals and 94 points over 82 games, finishing second to only his brother in overall production. Monitor this situation carefully as his health directly correlates to his scoring.

Based on similar players, it looks like Carlson might take a step back this season, which makes sense because he played against the toughest competition the team faced at even strength and dominated despite being a rookie. Performances like that are usually subject to some regression.

Carlson might be due for a regression before continuing his development into a very solid NHL defender. Last season he scored seven goals and 37 points through 80 games. He already holds one assist through two games but loses PP time to Dennis Wideman on the second unit.

The 6-foot-2, 240-pound left-winger has been cleared to participate in full practice and will travel with the team for their one-off road game against the Minnesota Wild on Thursday. The 27-year-old Ottawa native said he's feeling good and can't wait to get back in the lineup, though it's still be to determined whether he'll be ready to return against the Wild.

Eager has been injured with concussion-like symptoms since taking a hit from teammate Kirill Tulupov during the Joey Moss Cup. Last season he scored seven goals and 17 points through 68 games while adding 120 PIM. If you need a boost in PIM, he could help out your squad in deeper leagues.

WILMINGTON, Mass. --- David Krejci was ruled out for Wednesday night's game against the Carolina Hurricanes after he suffered an undisclosed injury during a practice session at Ristuccia Arena, according to a statement relased by the team.

Still no word on Krejci's injury. Last season Krejci scored 13 goals and 62 points through 75 games with the Bruins but has only one goal through the first three games. Look for Tyler Seguin to fill in for Krejci on the top line with Jordan Caron finding his way back into the third line.

Evander Kane was moved to the third line with Alex Burmistrov and Nik Antropov.

Kane should play much better on a scoring line after toiling on the 'second line' with rookie Mark Scheifele and Kyle Wellwood. In his first game, he seemed somewhat out-of-place, getting held scoreless with a minus-1 rating.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Norfolk Admirals right wing Carter Ashton has been named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Oct. 9, 2011. Ashton scored three goals and recorded an assist in two games to help Norfolk to a pair of victories.

Ashton just missed the cut this training camp and figures to play his first professional season in the AHL. Considering the team currently hold 14 forwards, the Bolts would need to get quite banged up before he gets called up.

Energy-wise, conditioning-wise, he’s real good. Now there’s a team thing, where it’s (about) working on our system. He missed a big part of our camp because of the contract. So there’s a great review for him, to go through the fundamental part of it.

Doughty has acclimated to the Kings' system following holding out during the preseason. At this point the offensive isn't quite there -- one assist through two games -- but it should come back with time.

Additionally, Perron was fined $148,437.48 for his actions.
