Jochen Hecht is getting healthier for the Sabres, and coach Lindy Ruff said when the center is finally ready to return from his concussion, he has a spot in the lineup waiting.

Dpesn't sound like Hecht is close to returning. Hecht only scored 12 goals and 29 points over his 67 games last season but has eclipsed 40 points seven times in his career. Keep him off your radar as this injury sounds long term.

Coyotes defenseman Michal Rozsival may not play tonight because of an upper-body injury suffered in Saturday’s game.

Rozsival was hit in the face with the puck during Saturday's game and could miss playing time because of it. Look for David Schlemko to take his spot in the lineup tonight.

In Edmonton’s 2-1 shootout victory to open the 2011-12 season, rookie Ryan Nugent-Hopkins didn’t just have a strong game, he was dominating. He scored the crucial tieing goal late in the game, but more than that, of the Oilers’ 18 scoring chances, RNH made significant contributions to 12 of them, an astounding total.

Probably a safe pick to grab if still available in your league. His center-only position is the only thing that may hurt his immediate fantasy hockey value.

Peter Regin will play tomorrow. Not sure who is coming out.

Look for Regin in the lineup tomorrow, perhaps in place of Nikita Filatov. Last season he only scored three goals and 17 points as he battled through inconsistency and injury. He should improve those totals if healthy all season.

“Goalies are going to make saves. But it’s a long year. If I’m getting scoring chances like that, it’s a really good thing.

Without Ryan Kesler, the Canucks will rely on the top line more than ever -- a boon for Burrow's fantasy hockey value. Look for the agitator to score around 30 goals over a full season with added PP points as he moves to the top unit.

It’s not going to win everyone over, and it may not last. But for one game he handled it perfectly. It was a step in the right direction.

If Luongo is to succeed this year he will need to be more mentally prepared for his opponent. His new-found accountability certainly helps him approach such a lofty task. Nevertheless, his opening night .893 SV% is well below his .919 career average.

The veteran understands his brief tenure with the Buffalo Sabres has ended. Morrisonn began bracing for his AHL assignment back in June, when the team acquired two high-profile defensemen, making him a spare part.

Sounds like Morrissonn remains positive while in the AHL with expectations of making it back to the big club. Through his first 62 games as a Sabre he only scored a goal and five points. Expect him to make it back into the NHL by the end of the year.
