Cogliano will not play on Tuesday due to an undisclosed injury. The 36-year-old veteran has seven points (3G / 4A) in 21 games this season, averaging 10:31 time-on-ice. Oskar Olausson is expected to make his season debut in Cogliano's absence.

Cogliano will not play on Tuesday due to an undisclosed injury. The 36-year-old veteran has seven points (3G / 4A) in 21 games this season, averaging 10:31 time-on-ice. Oskar Olausson is expected to make his season debut in Cogliano's absence.

Makar did not play on Sunday after exiting Saturday's contest late in the third period with a lower-body injury. He was a limited participant at morning skate on Tuesday and will presumably be a game-time decision ahead of the evening matchup against the Anaheim Ducks. Makar is currently pacing for the best season of his career, with 34 points (7G / 27A) and a +18 plus/minus through 23 games. If Makar is unable to play on Tuesday, expect Devon Toews to assume his role on the top powerplay unit.

Nelson scored two points (0G / 2A) on Saturday against the Florida Panthers but exited the game with an undisclosed injury after playing 15:04 time-on-ice. Nelson did not participate in practice on Monday but has been deemed ready to play on Tuesday against the San Jose Sharks. Nelson's two-point outburst on Saturday ended a three-game pointless skid for the 11-year veteran.

After not participating in practice on Monday for maintenance, Dobson will play on Tuesday. Dobson ranks seventh in the league with 25:09 average time-on-ice per game and is sixth amongst all defensemen with 21 points (5G / 16A) in 23 games, recording five (0G / 5A) in his last three alone. He is currently on pace to shatter his career-high 51-point output from the 2021-22 season.

Greenway did not play on Sunday, has missed four of the Sabres' last six games, and is expected to be out for an additional seven to 10 days with an upper-body injury. Greenway's offensive pedigree has not materialized since being traded to the Sabres late last season, scoring only 11 points (6G / 5A) in 38 combined games.

Tuch is expected to miss seven to 10 days with an undisclosed injury. Tuch's absence from the lineup will be a sizeable blow for a Sabres team that already struggles to score goals (2.84 GF / GP) but, luckily for the Sabres, Tage Thompson (upper-body) will return from a multi-week injury just as Tuch exits the lineup.

Markstrom will be out week-to-week with a fractured finger, an injury sustained after taking a puck to his hand at practice on Monday. Dustin Wolf has been recalled from the Calgary Wranglers of the AHL in the interim, which could be an opportunity for the promising youngster to get a deeper look at the NHL level as he battles it out for starts with Dan Vladar.

Zadina has not suited up for the last five games due to a lower-body injury but is expected to make his return to the Sharks lineup on Tuesday against the New York Islanders. Zadina has struggled in his first season with the Sharks, as has most of the team, scoring five points (3G / 2A) and registering an ugly -19 plus/minus through 20 games.

Sturm did not play on Sunday but is expected to return to the Sharks' lineup on Tuesday and skate on a line with Justin Bailey and Kevin Labanc. Sturm is averaging 14:48 time-on-ice through 22 games this season but has only two points (0G / 2A), being held without a point in 91% of contests.

If Gudbranson is unable to play on Tuesday, expect Andrew Peeke to draw back into the lineup for the Blue Jackets. Gudbranson has played all 26 games for the Blue Jackets this season, scoring nine points (2G / 7A), averaging 19:47 time-on-ice, and registering a -11 plus/minus through 26 games.

Chabot and the Senators are awaiting his MRI results, hoping for positive news, as any prolonged absence for Chabot will be a disheartening blow for the team after just recently re-welcoming him back into the lineup. He was not able to complete Saturday's game, his second game after a 10-game absence due to a hand injury, exiting late in the third period after playing 22:29 with an undisclosed injury. In the two games, Chabot scored one point (0G / 1A) and eight shots on goal while quarterbacking the Senators' top powerplay unit.

Greig was having a tremendous season before being derailed by a lower-body injury that has forced him to miss the last 10 games. He has seven points (2G / 5A) and 18 shots on goal through nine games this season and is expected to skate alongside Dominik Kubalik and Mathieu Joseph in his return to the lineup against the New York Rangers on Tuesday.

Joseph has not played since November 4th, recovering from a lower-body injury, and has only played five total games this season. As a result, he has been reassigned to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the AHL for a conditioning stint and will presumably be recalled in the near future.

The Sabres have recalled Devon Levi, likely to serve as backup to Eric Comrie, while Luukkonen is unable to suit up due to an illness. Luukkonen has unquestionably been the most dynamic and consistent of the three Sabres goaltenders this season, with seven quality starts through 11 games (.636 QS %). Expect Luukkonen to regain command of the starters as soon as he recovers.

Thompson is expected to make his much awaited return Tuesday after taking full part in practice earlier. His presence at morning skate on Tuesday is a welcoming sign for a Sabres' team that has struggled to generate consistent offence in his absence. Thompson last played on November 14th and was not having the season the elite centre iceman was expecting after a breakout 2022-23 campaign, scoring only 12 points (6G / 6A) through 16 games.

Haula has missed the last three games with a lower-body injury but is expected to return to the Devils' lineup on Tuesday. Haula has 12 points (6G / 6A) through 18 games this season and is expected to jump onto the top line alongside Jack Hughes and Tyler Toffoli.

Martinez has not played since November 19th due to a lower-body injury and will miss at least the next two games as he will not travel with the Golden Knights on their upcoming two-game road trip. Before his injury, the 36-year-old veteran defender was finding the back of the net more often than usual, as he had three goals, one assist, 18 SOG, two PIMs and a +1 plus/minus in 14 games.

Hill is listed as day-to-day but will miss at least the next two games as he will not travel with the Golden Knights on their upcoming two-game road trip. Logan Thompson will presumably start both games for the Golden Knights, who have also recalled Jiri Patera from Henderson (AHL).

McTavish left Saturday's game against the Colorado Avalanche in the first period with an upper-body injury after playing only 2:33 time-on-ice. McTavish will not travel with the Ducks for their rematch against the Avalanche Tuesday or Chicago the game after. He is having a tremendous season, scoring 21 points (10G / 11A) and 63 shots in 24 games and will be a huge loss for a Ducks team that already struggles offensively, ranking sixth-worst in the league (2.75 GF / GP).

The Flames had a scary moment at practice when Markstrom left the ice with a hand injury, leaving his availability for Tuesday's game against the Minnesota Wild uncertain. Makrstrom has allowed three or more goals in each of his last five games, posting a subpar .874 SV%, but has still salvaged a record of 2-21 during the stretch. If Markstrom is not able to play, expect Dan Vladar to occupy the crease.

While the minimum amount of time spent on the injured reserve list is seven calendar days, there is no maximum amount of time that a player can be placed on the injured reserve list. If a player is set to be sidelined for longer than 24 calendar days or 10 NHL games, then a club may opt to place them on the long-term injured reserve instead. This allows franchises with the ability to exceed the salary cap while a player is placed on this reserve list.
No injury recovery timeline is the same as another as there are several factors that go into the rehab process for a player being affected by injury. Factors include but are not limited to, injury severity, player injury/medical history, age, as well as the location of the injury. Some injuries are able to clear up in a matter of days, while others may take an athlete out of action for the entirety of a season.
