Bruins place Navrin Mutter on waivers
A veteran minor-leaguer has hit the wire.
According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the Boston Bruins placed forward Navrin Mutter on waivers, making him available to the other 31 teams in the NHL.
Mutter is set to begin his first full season with the Bruins organization. He was traded to Boston by the Nashville Predators last March, ahead of the American Hockey League trade deadline, for Massimo Rizzo. Mutter didn’t do much offensively in the final few weeks of the 2025-26 regular season, scoring just one goal in 12 games on a Providence Bruins team that finished with the best record in the league. He appeared in all four of the team’s Atlantic Division Semifinals against the Springfield Thunderbirds, which saw the Bruins shockingly be eliminated.
In 39 total games last year, the Lucan, Ont. native posted a goal and an assist, with a plus/minus of -12. Mutter re-signed with the Bruins on a one-year, two-way contract. The deal carries an NHL cap hit of $850,000 and an AHL salary of $95,000.
The 25-year-old has yet to appear in an NHL game. He spent the first three-plus years in the Predators’ farm system, mostly with the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals. He hasn’t been much of a scoring threat since joining the league in 2022, posting no more than eight points in a single season. He did reach double digits in the ECHL, doing so with the Atlanta Gladiators during the 2023-24 campaign.
In 161 regular-season games in the AHL, Mutter has notched five goals and 16 assists for 21 points, with two assists in 21 Calder Cup Playoff contests.
Mutter is an Ontario Hockey League champion, as he was on the Hamilton Bulldogs team that reached the Memorial Cup in 2018.
The only player put on waivers on Saturday, St. Louis Blues forward Marc-Andre Gaudet, cleared. He is eligible to join the Blues’ primary affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds.
