Red Wings’ Dylan Larkin, Andrew Copp expected to miss two weeks with lower-body injuries

The Detroit Red Wings will be without forwards Dylan Larkin and Andrew Copp for the next two weeks with lower-body injuries.
Larkin was hurt during the Wings’ matchup with the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers on Friday night. Near the halfway mark of the third period, the Washington, Mich. native went to take a shot and took an awkward spill, leading to his left knee being twisted up.
In 63 games, Larkin has scored 28 goals and 55 points, sitting second on the team in goals and third in overall scoring.
Copp, meanwhile, suffered a lower-body injury in a game on Tuesday night, also against the Panthers. Copp was tangled up in a faceoff with center Tomas Nosek and was forced to leave the game. The veteran forward had registered an assist in the game.
Copp has been a useful second-line center for the Red Wings, primarily playing alongside Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane. The 31-year-old has eight goals and 37 points through 65 games in Detroit, his fourth year with the club. Prior to joining the Wings, Copp spent eight years with the Winnipeg Jets before joining the New York Rangers ahead of the 2022 NHL Trade Deadline.
J.T. Compher currently occupies Detroit’s top-line center gig, with Marco Kasper, Michael Rasmussen and Sheldon Dries rounding out the rest of the occupancies down the middle.
Recent acquisition David Perron is also on injured reserve after undergoing surgery for a sports hernia earlier this year. Perron previously played with the Red Wings during the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons after signing as an unrestricted free agent. He left Detroit as a UFA once again in 2024 to sign a two-year deal with the Ottawa Senators.
The Wings will take on the Tampa Bay Lightning on the road at 7:00 PM ET tonight, then finish the week in Dallas on March 14.
