A veteran center looks to be heading back to the minors.

On Thursday, the Minnesota Wild placed forward Tyler Pitlick on waivers, making him available to the other 31 teams in the NHL.

If Pitlick clears on Friday, he can then be assigned to the Wild’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Iowa Wild.

This isn’t the first time the 34-year-old has been put on the wire, as he also cleared waivers back in late November. Most of Pitlick’s game action has come with Minnesota this season, as he’s played in 23 games for the big club thus far. He has just one goal in his stat line in 2025-26, that coming against the Ottawa Senators back on Dec. 13. He hasn’t played since Dec. 18 against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Pitlick has a plus/minus of -1 while averaging 7:49 of ice time with Minnesota.

The former St. Louis Blue has appeared in five games with Iowa this season, and has been pretty productive in his brief time in the ‘A,’ scoring three goals and four points.

This is Pitlick’s 11th season in the NHL. A former second-round pick of the Edmonton Oilers, the Minneapolis native has also made stops with the Dallas Stars, Philadelphia Flyers, Arizona Coyotes, Calgary Flames and Montreal Canadiens. In 443 regular-season games in the NHL, he has notched 57 goals and 53 assists for 110 points, with just another three points in 22 postseason contests. He also has 142 points in 282 AHL contests.

Pitlick is in the first season of his two-year, two-way contract that he signed this past summer.

The only player put on waivers on Wednesday, Blue Jackets forward Dysin Mayo, cleared on Thursday. He’s now eligible to be sent down to the AHL’s Cleveland Monsters.
