Sirens sign Dayle Ross to one-year contract

A promising young blueliner has inked her first pro contract.
On Monday, the New York Sirens announced that the team has signed defender Dayle Ross to a one-year contract for the 2025-26 season.
Ross was taken by the Sirens in the fourth round, 25th overall, of the 2025 PWHL Draft. She was the team’s fifth of nine picks that it made in the draft, and the first defender New York selected this past June.
“I’m very excited to be a part of the New York Sirens family,” Ross said in a release. “I am honored to be a part of such a young and talented group that has such tremendous potential for success.”
Ross enters the pro ranks after spending four years at St. Cloud State University. There, the Spirit River, Alb. native made an impact as one of the Huskies’ top defensive defenders, using physicality and exceptional awareness to help her stand out. At most, Ross notched just 15 points in a single season, twice, but registered a career-best plus/minus of +11 in her senior season.
In 142 games in St. Cloud, the 22-year-old scored seven goals and 33 assists for 40 points, with a career rating of +6.
Along with her college career, Ross tasted success at the minor hockey level. She helped the St. Albert Slash win the 2019 Esso Cup, awarded to the top women’s under-18 team in Canada, scoring the clinching goal in the championship game.
Ross is the third Sirens draft pick to sign with the team, joining first-overall pick Kristyna Kaltounkova and second-round pick Anne Cherkowski. General manager Pascal Daoust still has a few other picks to focus on signing, including reigning Patty Kazmaier winner Casey O’Brien, whom New York gave up defender Ella Shelton for to take third overall.
Despite the loss of Shelton, Ross joins a solid and experienced D-Corps, including captain Micah Zandee-Hart, along with Jamie Bourbonnais, Jincy Roese and Maja Nylen Persson.
