A solid offensive presence is staying in the Emerald City for a couple more years.

On Wednesday, the Seattle Torrent announced that the team has re-signed forward Julia Gosling to a two-year contract, which will carry through the 2027-28 season. With the new deal, Gosling is now protected through the remainder of the PWHL Expansion Player Distribution Process.

Gosling is the fourth player general manager Meghan Turner has protected so far, joining forward Alex Carpenter, defender Anna Wilgren and goaltender Hannah Murphy. The Torrent has lost a number of key players already in the expansion process, with Hannah Bilka and Cayla Barnes signing with Detroit, Corinne Schroeder heading to San Jose and Hilary Knight signing with Las Vegas, though she’s expected to be traded to Detroit next week.

Gosling started her PWHL career with the Toronto Sceptres, having been picked by the original six team in the first round, sixth overall, in the 2024 PWHL Draft. However, after her first season, she wasn’t protected by the Sceptres, leading to her being picked seventh by Seattle in the 2025 expansion draft.

After experiencing some growing pains during her rookie campaign, the London, Ont. native started to find her footing with the Torrent. She proved that she can be more than just a net-front scorer on the power play, utilizing her shot and skill that made her a star at St. Lawrence, as well as someone good enough to crack the Canadian National Team roster. While the team around her struggled, Gosling posted career highs in goals (6), assists (14) and points (20), finishing tied with Carpenter for the team lead in scoring.

In 60 regular-season games in the PWHL, the 25-year-old has posted 10 goals and 20 assists for 30 points, with three goals in four Walter Cup Playoff games with Toronto.

Gosling has also earned some hardware while representing her country. She was a key figure in Canada’s gold-medal win at the 2024 IIHF Women’s World Championship, and took home bronze and gold at the 2018 and 2019 IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship, respectively.

The Torrent can still protect up to two more players during this phase. Phase 3 of the expansion process continues through 3 p.m. ET on June 12.
