Sceptres place Allie Munroe on long-term injured reserve

A veteran blueliner is going to miss even more time in The Six.
On Wednesday, the Toronto Sceptres announced that defender Allie Munroe has been placed on long-term injured reserve due to a lower-body injury. In response, the team has signed fellow blueliner Hanna Baskin to a standard contract.
This is the second time that Munroe has been placed on LTIR. Back in late December, she suffered another lower-body injury, which caused her to miss 6 games. Coincidentally, the Yarmouth, N.S. native suffered both injuries against the Ottawa Charge, as she was hurt in the Sceptres’ last game on April 1 in a Takeover Tour game in Calgary.
Late in the first period of that contest, she was awkwardly taken down by Charge defender Jocelyne Larocque, causing Munroe to hobble down the tunnel to the locker room. She didn’t return to the game, logging just 4:46 of ice time. The Sceptres would go on to win, 2-1, in regulation.
While Munroe could return for Toronto’s final game of the regular season, ironically against Ottawa, the team said in a statement that she’s considered out indefinitely. In 19 games this year, the 28-year-old has posted two assists and a plus/minus of +2 while averaging 16:31 of ice time.
In 73 regular-season games in the PWHL, Munroe has scored two goals and eight assists for 10 points, with another two points in nine postseason contests. She’s in the final season of her two-year contract that she signed in June 2024.
Each time Munroe has gone down with injury this year, Baskin has been activated to the main roster. The rookie rearguard dressed in all six games of Munroe’s absence in the first half of the season, but failed to register a point. She has an even rating while averaging 6:34 of ice time.
The Sceptres are off until Saturday, when they host the Charge in a crucial game with Walter Cup Playoff implications. Toronto (9-1-5-10) is holding the fourth and final playoff spot, one point ahead of Ottawa, with both teams having five games remaining.
